Fourteen-year-old teenagers are taken to special academies, where they are trained in survival, combat, and everything else that might come in handy when exploring the spires. Oscar is one of them. His parents were mobilized and never returned, leaving him and his sister orphaned. He grew up in an orphanage, knowing that one day he, too, would be sent to the Spire. And now, at sixteen, his turn has come. He sets off for a place from which no one has ever returned, not knowing whether death, glory, or something far more terrifying awaits him there. His goal is simple - to survive and make it back.
