The Nameless One .

Decieted_Prince
There is a sentence on page two hundred and twelve that was not there when Crispin started reading. He will look up in four seconds. He looks up. He counts. Four. That is the first impossible thing. Before the end of the week, he will have encountered several more ; a man who bends air with his hand, an organization that knows his name before he has introduced himself, a compulsion arriving inside him like a thought that is not his own, and a person on the other side of sleep who has his face and does not know it. Crispin Vael is eighteen years old and a student at the Cathedral University of Aldenmere. He is methodical, slightly sardonic, and constitutionally incapable of leaving an unanswered question alone. This last quality is about to become the most important thing about him. The world has a hidden layer. It has always had one. The people who live in it receive instructions they cannot refuse, delivered by things that are not quite human, and the polite agreement is that no one speaks about this directly. There is a code for emergencies. There is an organization that responds to the code. There is a theory, held by one old man who has not yet told anyone, that somewhere , in a location that is not this world , someone knows it all. The Nameless One is the story of what Crispin finds when he follows one impossible sentence to its end. He is going to wish he had left it alone. He was never going to leave it alone.
