Chapter 686 - The Freest Kill in History

Marim briefed her accomplice on how she believed they should approach the upcoming wave. The underlying plan was simple: 2v1 the heck outta Memer!

"Hrm. This does sound mathematically sound." Nahum nodded. "Very well. Let's give it a shot."

And so, the plan was set in motion. As the next wave arrived, Marim advanced to the frontline and wiped out the enemy's entire army with Dark Blast. She pretended to pay no heed to the fact that the enemy Jungler was nearby. And, the bait worked pretty well.

"Whoa, look at that DK!" Luke exclaimed. "She fears no man!"

"Is that so?" Yuel carefully analyzed the situation in Mid. Is that a blunder? Or, is it intentional?

Unless the Tycoons happened to have terrible map awareness all of a sudden, they should've known that Luke was nearby. Therefore, they should've been wary of a gank in response to any overextension.

This doesn't add up. The Tycoons clearly lack practical experience, but otherwise, I had the impression they're quite sharp at reading the state of the game. They should be aware of the risks here.

With that said, this was all Maverick's doing. Perhaps she was a rebel who didn't take advice from her teammates. That would certainly be in line with her cocky IGN.

Was she the reckless type who charged in despite the risks? Or was she a sly fox lying out baits?

Other than the risky DK pick, there isn't enough evidence to suggest she's the reckless type. On the other hand, there are potential hints that something is afoot.

For one, the enemy Jungler didn't seem to rotate from Top Jungle to Bot Jungle. There were multiple wards scattered around the area, so at least one of them should've caught a glimpse of him by now.

Nia stole his Wolf Camp, so he should've gone back to Bot Jungle by now. That is, unless he's trying to gank Top or to counter-jungle? But, I doubt it.

There were multiple wards near Top Lane, yet none of them showed MathProfessor approaching the lane. He had plenty of time to get over there if he was planning to gank, yet there was no sight of him. Curious.

So, let's get this straight. Yuel reviewed the details from the top just in case. I saw Professor heading toward the Wolf Camp near Top. Of course, he found it empty.

Now that Professor unexpectedly has time to spare, he has a decision to make: Where to go next? There are many options, but only a few of them were relevant given Professor's track record.

I don't see him choosing to counter-jungle; that's just not the kind of player he is. If I had to place a bet, I would've said he would obediently rotate to Bot Jungle. However, that hasn't happened, so only two logical options remain.

Either there will be a gank on Top, or there'll be a gank on Mid. And, so far, evidence speaks against the first option. Therefore, a gank on Mid was looking the most likely.

On paper, such an assertive gank wasn't quite in line with the Tycoons' modus operandi. However, it was more than possible that Maverick was responsible for an idea like that, given it was her lane.

Given the high level of uncertainty, it was safer to tell Luke to stay out of this and skip- "I'm going in!" The fool stormed into Mid Lane!

"Wha-!?" Yuel exclaimed. "Wait, it might be bait!"

"Nah, man. This is gonna be the freest kill in the history of free kills!" Luke charged at the unsuspecting Dark Knight. "C'mon, Kai. Let's rough up this DK!"

"You remember that I've got a bunch of minions to deal with, right?" Kai asked. This wasn't exactly an ideal time for a gank for her. She was in the middle of backpedalling to the tower while firing basics at the incoming minion army.

"C'mon, whatcha waiting for?" Luke asked. "Just blast these guys and join the gank!"

"I need more Heat first," Kai explained. "This is going to take a few more seconds."

"Lame. Fine, I'll do it myself." Luke shook his head and focused on the overextending prey in front of him. "I guess it's gonna be a 1v1 then. Orc vs. DK, the battle of the century! Let's goooooo!"

WHISH! Luke rolled into the scene and swung his axe! He was sure he had caught the enemy completely off guard. But, as he was soon about to learn, he was the one who actually ran into a trap…
