It all started on his 6th birthday, Mikai was always gifted in school but he always felt that there was something different within him. He loved to read and had developed an eidetic memory at the age of 3. He had already absorbed all the information in his parents library and was starting to find the school tests incredibly easy and boring.
It was a windy day and there was meant to be an assembly taking place later that day. A peak mentor was said to be joining this assembly to persuade the graduates on the different paths they could take after turning six. The peak mentors were usually distinguished graduates from the town's academy and this would be a way for them to give insight to the younger generation and inspire them.
Mikai was excited to meet this peak mentor as he had been on various TV shows visiting many schools like Mikai's. While Mikai was daydreaming about the assembly, he suddenly heard a strange voice. It sounded like himself but he wasn't sure how as he couldn't remember thinking those words at all. At that moment, the school bells sounded and Mikai chose to ignore the matter and head to the assembly.

Mikai was slightly disappointed as the mentor kept droning on for quite a while and he had no clue what the choices he was supposed to make were. The rest of the students seemed the same the instructor was talking about quite complicated topics and for a class of six year olds, it was not something they could comprehend easily. Just as he was about to fall into another daydream, he heard the voice once again.
"What do you desire the most?, What is your driving power?", Sitting there confused, Mikai started to slap his head and snap out of the it, "Have I gone crazy? - did I read too much webnovels last night?" "Mikai, I am you and you are me, there is a lot to explain but for now understand that you have to make a choice." - At this point, Mikai realised that there was quite a commotion in the assembly, many of his class that had turned six were rolling on the floor crying and some were simply shocked at what was going on.
The peak mentor took a glance over in Mikai's direction and was surprised to see that he was not showing any visible signs of distress. He decided to scan him further using his perception and was shocked at the results. He had seen geniuses with higher base stats before an awakening but he had not been able to detect his path. This was something that was very rare as only people with a higher rank were able to hide their path.
