A lot of interesting experiments require a lot of trust. It's easy to trust physics, it's hard to trust the engineers as well as the operators.
If you're on a train moving at 150 km/h and get ejected backwards at a top speed of 150 km/h, you'll basically just fall down slightly. If something goes wrong, you'll end up smeared across the ground.
