In stores, it's quite easy to tell if the TV being shown is an OLED or not. If the screen is always showing images with lots of black portions, it helps make the rest pop and emphasizes the OLED aspect of true black.
If the whole screen is vibrant, they're trying to hide how mediocre the black color is.
