Chapter 28 - Chapter 26:

"Dad~?"

The word almost felt foreign to his tongue now even as it left his lips. The truth was blatantly placed before him. However, a strange sensation coursed over him short circuiting his minds. Even with the evidence placed before him some part of him. His inner humanity once thought lost buried and rendered extinct through the long excruciating process of recreation, of mind, body and soul.

Yet the impossible sensation of base mortal emotion resurfaced once again in force. Though truthfully it was never truly lost within Yin Chen himself. He himself knew this. Whenever he was with him, his father. The source of his conviction and determination throughout his path of ascension. The light and warmth he so dearly sought during the darkest times of his life. The one remaining source tethering him to his humanity.

The source now that now stood defiled, deformed and mutilated before him. Though deceptively

different to the mortal eye. There was little to nothing his enhanced eyes cannot see. Though faded Yin Chen could see the small minute details of his father's features. Barley visible, but he could see it, he could still see the remnants.

"No~, no~." The impossible words oozed out from his lips. words that shouldn't have been part of his vocabulary in the last twelve years. He felt himself stagger; his limbs loosen. The tension in his muscles slipping from his control.

"How~, what~? This cannot be I left you safe in our home. Why are you here? How can you be here?"

An assortment of simulations and possibly surged forth in force. The process rang through his minds. All coming up with different possibilities and theories. Coming to the possible conclusion of the current situations. Yet he didn't focus on anything of the possibles that came up. His eyes fixated upon the creature that was his beloved father, the source of his existence. The world ceased in exist to him that that moment.

"What happened to that thing?" Linda voiced her confusion out loud before she even registered her own actions.

"Why has he suddenly stopped? Gah whatever. Hurry we need to leave while the beast is distracted hurry."

She once again pulled at blade pinning Jesse Curry with all her strength. But it was proving difficult, the blade was embedded too deeply within the ground.

"No need to waste your strength." Jesse Curry pushed aside Linda, then gulping down a mouthful of air. He began to move. The sickening sound of tearing muscles mixed in with his cries of pain. Yet for all that he was free, even if delimbed once again.

"Gah~! Come on let's go while that thing is distracted." Jesse Curry spoke through gritted teeth, reaching out his hand for Linda, before BOOM! The thunderous sound of discharge came from behind the duo. Then Jesse Curry was flailing in the air. His severed upper body carting wheeling away before landing roughly upon the ground a few meters ahead of the hall. Leaving Linda in shock at the sudden event.

"What did you do~?" The words came over her. Yet despite the softness of the words, it is like a breeze in the air. Yet the weight behind those words came crashing down on the intended reception.

The world then tumbled and shake around her. At least metaphysical a soul crushing pressure crashed down upon her. Halting them from any further movement. Rooting her in place. Turning her head back seeing the figure of Yin Chen overtaking her sight. The behemoth he was contesting with was restrained with some cables of some sort. Warping around its limps, immobilizing it in place as it roared.

Vibrating the air in the confined space, she could feel it in her chest. Yet she barely paid any attention to that factor. Her attention to everything in the world was dwarfed by the figure slowly making its way towards her.

"What did you do~?" A simple question that belittled the current situation. Yet they held so much weight behind those words. Yin Chen's tone was ice cold. Inhumanly devoid of any human words of emotion weirdly even sensation. Slick with killing intent, the temperature in the air around the space seemed to drop impossible so. Not physically but metaphorically, the chill was there. Within her core being. If she was afraid before now, she felt primal terror. Not one of simple animalistic fear, nor even primal fear. This fear came from the depths of her very soul. Her body trembled, as a wet fluid stained the lower sections of her thighs. Her limbs became limp; she felt no sensation in them.

Eyes so hollow, devoid of all emotions to the mortal definition. The eyes staring at her now were hollow. So very hollow it was, like a black hole was staring directly into her soul. It was mind numbing to stare into those eyes. It was akin to staring into the depths of a black deeper than black. Or that of a universe. There was simply nothing in her mind that could process looking into those hollows that were the thing's eyes. For the first time during the whole exchange. The cool nonchalant attitude that Yin Chen held before evaporated. Before he didn't hold any sense of being in the present. Though he was here in the physical world. His mind was elsewhere. Or rather he was simply disinterested in the current present. In truth they were never truly a concern or of interest to him. Now however she had attracted his full attention. It felt as though the world around her was beginning to crumble. The air around her was heavy. So very heavy, as though the molecules themselves had shifted their weight.

Now he's grounded to earth. The lion had been awake, and now it was on the path for blood.

"What did you do~?" The words came yet again. More pressure weighted down upon them. The intensity was so unbearable, threatening to flatten them. Before a ray of light shone through the suffocating atmosphere. However, it was no light of hope. It came from the article of death now truly activated. Power of unknown classification, shone dimly upon its surface.

In that hall, however, it might have as well have been a torch light. The ethereal energy swam and danced along the surface of the Glaive's head. Unnaturally, so as if in responded to it's master will. Its head leveled at her, poised for the kill strike. The barrel on top of the head glowing slightly red, an indication where the round came from. Then another thing caught her attention, she hadn't noticed this before.

Did the abomination in human form grow just now? Before he was an average height of a man. Being around six feet tall. Now suddenly his size seemed to triple, the ceiling which hung far above their heads seemed relatively closer to the thing's head suddenly.

Yet none of that was of any importance. Her thoughts were split between two shifts. Each fighting over one another for supremacy at the moment. One was the unbridled rage building within her. The frustration, the humiliation of her current predicament. All the result of the being before her. Yet another part of her was screaming at her to run. To flee with upmost haste away from here, away from the monstrosity before her that calls itself 'human'.

Yet with all her heart, she roared against such weakness within her human core. She mentally pushed against the encroaching wall dangerously close to flattening her free will.

"I-I-I…" Her words came out like pitiful mewing; it was difficult to speak her words choked upon her throat. "I-I."

Nothing of her mortal flesh answered to her will. It was as though she was trapped in a prison and was just riding along for the ride of this event playing before her. Yet there was no denying what was going to happen. She knew in her heart of hearts then and there she was going to die. There was no denying this reality.

In the short time frame of the inhuman monstrosity before her had focused its full attention upon her. An ungodly being of terror and distortive potential was all that stood before. The notion of a mortal man vanished from existence itself, replaced with cold efficiency

"It's fine, if your voice cannot say. I need it not; your brain shall suffice." Dawnbringer twirled in Yin Chen hands. Repositioning its gleaming edge reflecting the light shining upon it, aimed at Linda. Suddenly a figure lunged at him from another angle. A muscularly misshaped hand shot forth like a bullet. Grasping the head of his Guan Dao. Pulling its killing edge away from Linda. Gaining the full attention of the killer article's owner.

Jesse Curry, somehow launching his severed upper body back into the fray. His form was greatly distorted from his human form. Resembling a sea beast, a disgustingly hate filled rage plastered on his mismatching face. His right arm more beast than human grasped tightly upon the guan dao. His free hand swung around towards Yin Chen's exposed body. To no avail.

His reward was but a welp from his lips and painful jolt through that arm. He groaned, clenching his jaw so tight. He could feel himself grinding his teeth, yet still he didn't relent in his action. Resulting in an explosive burst of pain. Shooting through his system each time. 'Gah~, it's like hitting a damn steel wall.'  Yet still he didn't relent in his efforts. "Rah~!" he bellowed in an inhuman scream. Pulling his fist back then thrusting it forwards again and again. Each one landing effortlessly upon different parts of the monster in human form's body.

For his efforts, Jesse Curry suddenly found himself lifted from his position skyward. Due to Yin Chen lifting up his guan dao. Effortlessly up Jesse Curry felt himself rise. Till he was near eye level, then his eyes met with a blur. He felt air born again, then with a sickening crunch he could hear it. Feel it even. The beast had launched him into the wall. With a single flick of his wrist, Jesse Curry lost his grip upon the guan dao, then was tossed aside like a rag.

The pain was still fresh and aching, yet he paid little attention to it. Tap-tap-tap. The echoing footfalls of the approaching threat had his attention. Looking up to see the slow encroaching death its glaive humming its death tune.

"Well how does it feel huh~! How does it feel~!" Jesse Curry spat his voice a mixing distorting vocal, of beast and man. Blood splattered out with his salvia, locking eyes with Yin Chen.

"Funny how karma swings back at you isn't it?!" Jesse Curry roared out with all his being. Spitting out mouthful of blood. Joy and glee oozed out not only form his facial features. That sickening satisfaction radiated from his words as he spoke them out loud.

"You-You thought that you were truly untouchable?! Huh~!? How does it feel Bitch?! You robbed me of my father! My life! My everything~! Now yours will pay for your sins ha-ha! Oh, the heavens truly do reward the just ha-ha-ha~!"

Yin Chen stared back at the annoyance before him. The pressure around Jesse Curry instantly intensified. This scene perfectly embodies the phrase. 'If looks could kill.' This stare he was receiving was more than just an expression. It was the embodiment of said expression. The air around him was soul crushing, it hurt to move. No, he couldn't move. It hurt to even breathe, as though the air was being denied to his nostrils.

Yet there was no fear in his heart. Jesse Curry was fearless at the moment. If he were to meet his death here and now. It would be worth it he thought. Seeing the frustration and soul breaking pain upon the monster's face. Would be more satisficing than any payment and reward in the world. Yet there was none that could be seen. Only the stalest featureless mask devoid of any noticeable emotion plastered upon its face.

Looking closer, locking eyes with the monster in human form. Jesse Curry realized the truth. No that was a lie, its eyes, it was fixated upon him, it was looking at him. Glaring into him, there was undeniable fury within those eyes. Now it was looking at him. Turley looking at him now. Not the uninterested sight that seemed to see through him. Now the soul crushing gaze was firmly pierced into him. The pressure was intensive upon his soul, unbearable.

The pressure slowly intensified as the next words. That spewed from like that of an incantation instead of speech.

"You and your gene source knew what you were getting yourselves into. I told you this before." The figure of Yin Chen shifted then impossibly so. The Guan Dao in his grip seemed to have faded through existence itself. Then a familiar sensation rained through Jesse Curry's chest. The familiar sensation of pain and something burrowing into his gut.

"Unlike you I'm no hypocrite. I know what my actions will lead to, for the karma directed at me. You have no right to judge. Not my existence. Not my cause. For the likes of you to dictate the meaning of my purpose. Is beyond you." Yin Chen lifted Dawnbringer tilting the head skyward with Jesse Curry still impaled upon it.

"You can only talk like that cause-" Then power surged through the head of the guan dao. A fiery sensation now burned though him. Not like regular fire, this fleet as though his very essence was being erased.

"Clearly you didn't heed my words last time. You who works in this profession shouldn't expect any sense of mercy from your foes. Don't act so innocent with all the blood that soaks your hands."

Yin Chen spoke with raw contempt towards the frail inhuman mortal before him. Looking at the disfigured form of the man before him. It disgusted him to the core. Never would he have imagined the sacrilege of the sacred human form before him. Nothing absolutely nothing from the cosmic horrors beyond, to the weapon that would have erased him from reality itself. None of that, none of which had him react in such a manner.

"I…will….kill….you. I…..kill-you. Kill….you…kill. I….swear…" Jesse Curry forcefully spat out his fury through a mouthful of blood. Yet still gurgled on his life essence, sliping forth uncontrollably. Several spital landing upon Yin Chen's face. Jesse Curry's more human look arm struggling to extend outward towards Yin Chen.

"Get in line, it's a very long line." Breaking eye contact with the broken man before him. as if signifying his lackluster interest Without another word Yin Chen flicked his wrist, tossing the broken body of Jesse Curry away. Turning away from that obstacle and back towards Linda. The woman now was standing on her feet. Though shaking with an obvious wobble. Her facial features now a mix of defiance and fear. The edges of her eyes glistening with tears, ones she was clearly fighting to hold back.

Still rooted in place. She hasn't moved one inch, not that it would have helped. Now with the obstruction out of the way. For now. Yin Chen resumed his path and strode towards her. His body still radiating a killing aura paired with his guan dao gleaming with killing light and strode back towards her.

Roar~! Behind Yin Chen came the vibrating tremor of structural collapse. An array of Fissure cracks spouted forth along the walls and floor beneath his feet. Then the massive figure of the mutant beast rushed forth. Pasting Yin Chen cutting the air around them with its speed. In one swift motion without breaking stride. Swooped up with perfect precision, cradling Linda in its arm with Jesse Curry grasping upon the lingering cables swing wildly upon its armored scales.

"Dad~!" Yin Chen cried out after the fleeing figure. Yet couldn't follow as the entire structure around him seemed to crash down upon him. Large segments of the ceiling fell upon him. He swiftly swung Dawnbringer around in quick succession, twirling his glaive rapidly. Cutting through the blocks of concrete into pieces. Dawnbringer's blade severing them with absolute ease.

Yet despite this soon, he was cutting through them fast enough. While also creating more obstacles before him. His sight became obscured with nothing but crashing debris and dust. Then with another resounding crack, the floor beneath his feet crumbled. Tumbling down into the further deeps of the earth.
