With a low groan, David rolled onto his back and stretched. Every muscle protested before surrendering with a satisfying series of pops. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and sat on the edge of the bed, his feet searching for the cool floor.
For a moment, he simply sat there.
The world beyond the window was still moving. Voices drifted from the street outside of the window. A motorcycle roared past. Someone laughed. Somewhere, a dog barked with unreasonable enthusiasm. This is Lagos, the state that never sleeps. Everyone is always on the move; everyone is always in the hustle. Even the dogs in the street are in the struggle.
