In the months following her father's burial, Heaven and I grew remarkably close. We remained nothing more than friends, though not because I lacked feelings for her. The truth was, I could never summon the courage to tell her how deeply I loved her.
Instead, I expressed my affection in quieter ways. I continued to support her and her family both spiritually and financially, doing whatever I could to ease the burden they carried.
In return, she began visiting me on some weekends. She would help with the laundry, prepare meals, tidy the house, and make sure everything was in order before leaving later that evening. No matter how much I wanted her to stay longer, she always returned home before nightfall.
