Tang Li only picked up the video call after reaching a secluded corner.
The little guy was wearing a school uniform, still as sassy as ever. As soon as the video connected, he raised an eyebrow. Tang Li noticed the scene behind him: "Are you getting ready for recess exercises?"
Song Jingtian didn't deny it.
He had deliberately slowed his pace to fall behind, then called Tang Li.
As the class descended the stairs, he ducked into the nearby restroom.
Song Jingtian chose a stall to hide in, locked the door, and continued chatting with Tang Li: "If I don't reach out, are you going to forget about me?"
Tang Li could tell the little guy was upset that she hadn't checked in with him after landing yesterday.
"I was afraid you were asleep."
That explanation might fool a three-year-old.
Song Jingtian grumbled and then asked, "How's your relative doing?"
"Pretty good," Tang Li replied. "He should be out of the hospital in a few days."
"So, when do you plan to come back?"
