That Night.
10:00 pm.
Jim's Room.
"Olu? Can you hear us?". The sound of Gert's voice coming through wireless buds in Jim's ears. Jim is currently sitting on his bed, the tablet on his lap, showing a hologram keyboard and screen.
"Yeah" Jim replies softly.
"Well we're above your camp. Can't believe you live here. This place is pretty fucking huge. Almost as big as Alex's house" Chase voice comes through.
"Yeah its got everything. The sponsors are really nice people" Jim says.
"Alright. Well we don't want to disturb you. Leap will be with you throughout, but if you need anything, and I mean anything, let us know" Gert says.
"Yeah Jim, you're really doing us a huge favour" Karol says.
"If you feel tired, sleep or meditate" Gert orders.
"Yes ma'am" Jim says with a smile on his face.
"Alright we're out, Leap take over. Goodnight Olu" Gert says. The other Runaways all say 'goodnight'.
"Goodnight guys" Jim hears a click and Leap's voice comes through the ear pods. The top right corner of the screen displays a frog.
"Master Olu are you ready to begin?" She asks.
"I have a question before we start. To satiate my curiosity" Jim says.
"As long as it is within my power and your permissions I'll answer them" Leap says.
"Can you tell me bout yourself. You're from the future right? Knowing more about what you can do would be a huge help I'm sure" Jim says.
'The ability of this AI is outstanding. I've watched a few movies that have AI's here at camp and they don't even come close'.
"Of course Master Olu" Leap says.
"I was created in the year 2178 by Hammer Industries. In the 22nd Century, technology is far more advanced and Artificial Intelligence of lower levels are common place. I am a multipurpose assistant, capable of understanding almost five thousand languages. I also have basic knowledge of that era in various subjects including history, biology, physics, mathematics, chemistry and so on. Stolen by the Yorkes and uploaded to their even more advanced systems, I was given information on how to assist them on their missions. I have full knowledge of healthcare and engineering up to the early 22nd Century. This was all given to better help them cater for not just themselves but also their 4-D Portico time machine and other forms of technology they used. After the 4-D Portico was damaged, the Yorkes met the Steins and with their help managed to create a weaker version of the time machine. This version was then fitted into the Leapfrog ship which is capable of suborbital space flight, land and underwater travel. Under the care of the Yorkes and Steins, I was also given more information on how to do not just my job as a spaceship, but as a caretaker. If the Leapfrog is damaged, there are tools on board and I can guide passengers to help in repairs. The med bay has appropriate equipments, and allow for me to test passengers in various medical exams. I was sitting in storage when I was discovered by Chase Stein, Gert Yorkes and Alex Wilder and put to use".
"Incredible, you have so much knowledge to share. I'm especially interested in the advancements in the medical field" Jim says. The idea of futuristic medicines going through his mind.
"If you want I can create a training plan for medicine based on the 2090's International Education Board's teaching methods. The tablet has more than enough space for transfer".
"Hmm, not yet. The Steins are engineers, The Hayes are biologists. Both couples advanced beyond this age. When we steal all their information from their computers, I want you to sort it then form this plan. In computer, engineering and medicine." Jim says.
'I can't ignore my instant affinity with computers thanks to my hint ability. Medicine has always been my dream so I have to learn what I can on that. The Engineering won't be my focus, but I can't let such knowledge go to waste you know'
"Of course Master Olu" Leap says.
'Now to question the origin of my powers. Maybe with futuristic knowledge Leap might know something'.
"Thinking bout it, are people with powers common in future?" Jim asks.
"Yes sir, superpowers aren't a rarity in future" Leap replies.
"Well is there an explanation for someone like me with normal parents having powers?".
"Answers to this question vary. It could be anything from having an alien ancestor, to being a mutate or mutant, to being any of the offshoot human races".
"I get the alien ancestry. It's shocking to me that aliens can successfully mate and reproduce with humans. Please explain the mutate and offshoot human races to me. Are there different kinds of humans now?" Jim asks in wonder. Jim sees some pictures load on the holographic screen. Leap begins to show Jim pictorial examples of each race she's speaking of.
"Mutates are humans who experience forced physical mutations due to mutagens such as radiation or chemicals. Some humans have gotten their powers this way. The offshoots of humanity term was coined by Henry P. McCoy when he discovered the X-gene which creates a new evolution in humans was found in some atlantean DNA. Most notably that of Namor".
"X-Gene? Atlantean?" Jim asks.
"During the human evolutionary process, from homo erectus to Homo sapiens, small parts of humanity didn't evolve to Homo sapiens. These small parts form the races under the term offshoots of humans. They mainly include the Infernals, Eternals, Inhumans and Atlanteans. These four races due to unknown reasons all decided to create their own kingdoms in various places. The Infernals and Atlanteans live in the pacific and Atlantic oceans respectively. The home of the inhumans is the moon, while the home of the eternals is unknown".
"You mean there is life on the moon and underwater kingdoms?" Jim asks.
"Affirmative" Leap says.
"Well not the most outrageous thing I've heard today" Jim says. "Alright tell me bout this X-gene as well".
"The X-gene was discovered by Charles Xavier. He discovered that a common gene was shared by him and some other super powered individuals. These individuals were then dubbed 'mutants'. Later on, this gene was found in small parts of all offshoots of humanity except the Inhumans, The Eternals and Infernals. Scientists discovered that there is some similarities between the X-gene and genes in those three races. Some biologists theorized that those three races are failed evolutions of the X-gene when it was originally starting to develop".
"Hmm, and you're saying any one of these could be the reason for my powers?" Jim asks.
"You do not use any form of technology to perform it. The other option is being a magical human. Magical humans though are classified under the term mutate, as magic being manipulation of energy, and energy radiates, over time causing mutations therefore making your body easier adapt to using them. These mutations could then be passed on from parent to child. The child learning or using magic develops this mutation further. A good example is Miss Nico and the Minorus. Miss Nico without any training is already controlling magical energies without issue".
"I see. Is there anyway to test my DNA for which evolution I'm part of then?" Jim asks.
"The Med bay on the Leapfrog is capable of performing blood and DNA testing. I have sufficient knowledge in detecting the X-gene, and the main offshoots of humanity DNA. I can detect Alien DNA but I won't be able to know which species it comes from. Mutates are more complex".
"Alright, remind me to do this blood test later. You should probably update your alien physiology information after we hack the Dean's. They are Aliens so they should at least have info on popular or common races of the universe".
"Request Accepted. I will inform you when next you're on the Leapfrog to visit the med bay".
"Alright thanks" Jim says stretching.
"Let's get to work then, what's first?". The screen changes and what appears is a page with a white background with the words 'click here to begin'.
"First is finger exercises. We need to get your hand speed and flexibility up. Also you aren't used to typing and that has to be fixed".
Date: Tuesday, 11th of August, 2004.
Location: Sidewalk in Front of FEAST.
'I haven't been able to meet up with the guys these past two days. Today let me show them some self defense techniques. Probably some Aikido'.
With his bag on his shoulders, Jim turns right on the sidewalk that has a few people on it and treks to the Library.
Twelve minutes later, Jim reaches the Old Library building. The library is made of red and brown brick making it have this old school feel. Jim walks inside passing the snoozing security guard and enters the four storey building. The first part of the library is it's reception, where Jim meets the old Librarian.
"Hi Mrs Shelley" Jim says lowering his voice. Jim removes his wallet and brings out his library card.
"Hello Jim, how are your studies going?" She asks, naturally lowering her volume from years of experience. She hands Jim a register.
"It's going great ma'am, thank you" Jim replies signing the register and collecting his card. He enters the library first floor, few people about in desks or collecting books. He then walks to the stairs and goes straight to the roof.
Jim opens the door and walks outside. This is the pickup spot where the Runaways will pick and drop him off. He only waits a moment but then the air ripples as the ramp is let down facing the door, the ship though remains invisible. Jim quickly walks in. Chase is wearing a black tracksuit that the group bought for themselves yesterday and Jim has one in his bag.
"How's it going" Chase says to Jim as he presses the lock button and the ship closes up.
"Going great actually" Jim says. They both turn and enter the flight room. The rest of the team are sitting down chatting and look their way when they come in.
"Morning guys" Jim says , they all mutter heys and mornings in return. Jim goes around giving everyone a fist bump.
"So how are things going?" Gert asks.
"Everything's going great. I don't feel or look tired so don't worry. And I've learnt a lot about typing and other things from Leap".
"You sure?" Karol asks.
"Yup! Just ask Leap" Jim says.
"Master Olu seems and looks to be doing fine. His physiology is amazing and through the nights has never shown any sign of him needing sleep" Leap says.
"Alright Leap" Gert says.
"So ready to fly this baby?" Chase says with a grin.
"Wait for real?" Jim says excited.
"Well you're the one leading us so it seems the best way" Gert says.
"What if I crash it?" Jim says.
"It isn't hard, I promise. Way easier than when I tried to drive a car" Molly says reassuring him.
"Yeah, Leap does most of the work" Nico says.
"Yeah, but we should probably limit the speed. Leap?" Chase says.
"Speed limited to thirty kilometres per hour" Leap replies.
"You guys are serious?" Jim asks, excitement showing on his face.
"Yup, if you're tense I'll co pilot you" Chase says patting his back.
"Then let's do this" Jim says walking to the front of the ship. He takes of his bag and sits down, the seat instantly strapping him in. Chase sits down beside him. Two steering wheels come out of the floors and various holograms showing information pop up. It shows things like altitude, proximity to buildings and objects, a speedometer and so on.
"So first you gotta increase altitude, don't want you to crash into any buildings" Chase says and starts instructing Jim on what to do. He points to a hologram on the wheel.
"Put your thumb on this panel, slowly and steadily slide up".
"Okay". Jim says and puts his hand on the wheel. He places his thumb on the hologram and slowly pushes the bar up. Instantly the ship begins to lift.
"Whoa!".
"You're doing great Jim!" Molly says.
"Okay this height is okay" Chase says . Now they're about eight hundred feet in the air.
"Yeah. Guide" Jim says thinking of the best and most lowkey place for them to safely train. He sees a large starlit road form, no longer a simple path. He just grins.
"I'm ready" Jim says.
"Okay just push the wheel forward a bit to go forward, bend it right or left to turn and pull it to slow down. Just try to be as gentle and steady as possible. Don't make your movements too extreme. Leap is assisting you, so don't worry" Chase says.
"Alright, let's do this!" Jim says. He gently pushes the ship forward and the ship slowly begins to accelerate.
"Awesome, you got this" Gert says.
Twenty Minutes Later.
Location: In front of a Large Barn.
"Well, this place looks abandoned. Great choice" Victor says.
"Yup, your ability is amazing" says Molly. They look around them and see overgrown weeds and flowers all over the fields. There's grass under their feet but it seems this place is recently abandoned so the clearing isn't covered yet. The barn though looks in good condition.
"Thanks, how bout we get inside" Jim replies. There's a bar lock on the barn and they raise it. They open the barn and look inside to see some hay and farming instruments lying about. The has two other levels above them that needs a ladder to reach.
"Perfect, enough space to practice our abilities" Victor says. Gert instantly enters boss mode.
"Alright guys, you know the plan. Let's start with the martial arts training" She says. Over the past two days Jim has been having conversations with the whole team about things they need to improve on. They know that their parents are highly skilled and dangerous people. So they need to improve on various things to best them.
They agreed on things they need to train and become better at. The plan goes as follows:
1. Gert: Her greatest asset is her mind and charisma. She has put it upon herself to become a better leader and tactician. Leap will be helping her with this, as leap is configured to assist the Yorkes on missions. Leap will be giving her books and notes on tactical manoeuvres. Learning how to be a better leader is her priority.
2. Chase: He has good physical attributes and the fistigons make him perfect at mid to long fights. At close range though, while the fistigons are durable enough and pack enough of a punch, his fighting skills leave much to be desired. That will be his main priority.
3. Victor: He is superhuman, with incredible strength and durability. He also possesses incredible intelligence and electromagnetic abilities. His fighting skills need much improvement and they plan to let him study the science information they'll steal from the Pride in future. His priority is the same as Chase's with better energy manipulation coming in close.
4. Nico: Her magic doesn't allow her to repeat words twice. So if she uses an ice spell and says the word freeze, she can't use that same word to use magic again. Therefore she needs to expand her vocabulary and at least learn various translations for a few words. She's also going to be learning meditation practices from Jim as well. Learning new words is her priority.
5. Karol: Karol, Victor and Jim plan to study their energy manipulation together. Learning how to improve how she uses her powers is her main priority.
6. Molly: She's also a heavy hitter and her main priority is to learn fighting skills. Her powers aren't fully grown and have a time limit, but the hope is that the more she uses it the faster it grows.
7. Old Lace: Old Lace is a genetically modified Deinonychus. He isn't a velociraptor as Jim originally thought. The Yorkes improved on his DNA making him stronger and faster. Instead Gert's job is to think of better ways to use him in fights.
8. Jim: Jim is going to be teaching them martial arts and is making holographic recordings of moves for them to use. He's also going to be studying their powers and comparing them as much as he can for now.
They also decided that even those who aren't close combat members should learn some martial arts and get physical training as well. This was at Jim's insistence.
"Olu, you ready?" Gert asks and Jim nods.
"Okay everyone let's line up and give each other two feet apart" Jim says and they all obey.
"I'm gonna teach you some calisthenics. The more fit you are the higher the level. I've created five different levels with Leap and recorded them all. I expect you to do this every morning, you wake up by six, come here and do the training. For now only two of you get level two training and that's Victor and Chase" Jim says. They don't complain bout the time because they can't to Jim. After all he's pulling all nighters, the best they can do is to suck it up and not sleep late.
"So let's begin!" He takes collects tablets from Gert and Nico placing them on the floor along with his. Together they make a hologram version of him.
"Nah you'll discourage the others" Jim says and picks up the tablets.
"Chase and Vic, take these to the other side of the barn where you won't discourage the others" Jim says handing Vic the tablets. Chase and Vic look at each other with a bit of tension in the air.
"Alright" they mutter round the same time and walk off together.
"Vic if you don't feel any strain, take a tablet and do the 3rd level!" Jim says.
"So y'all ready?" Jim gives them a devilish grin and instantly they all know that they're gonna hate this.
Two hours Later
Jim looks at the group moaning on the floor in front of him, while he's hardly broken a sweat.
"Great job guys, you all did great. I didn't expect you all to finish, but you did".
"Fu-Fuck you" Gert and Karol say making Jim snicker.
"Alright, alright. We won't be doing any martial arts training this week. Let's get y'all used to this training first" Jim says.
"He isn't even phased. What level are you?" Nico says through deep breaths. Jim just sighs.
"You really don't wanna know, besides I have a healing factor" Jim says. There's no response from the exhausted girls.
"I'll give you guys some extra time to rest. I saw a tap outside, Let me check if this place has running water. Maybe you can use the horses stalls for baths. Sure Leap doesn't want you stinking up the ship" Jim walks outside the barn and looks at the tap to the left. He doesn't go there though but walks towards drop point of the ship.
"Leap?" Jim says. The ramp comes down and Jim enters.
"Welcome Master Olu. Here for your blood test?".
"Yes, which way is it?" Jim asks.
"Door on your right, the the third door on your left" Leap says. Jim follows her instructions and passes doors with names on them like Kitchen, Lavatory, Armoury, Laboratory, Maintenance, Holding Cell, Med Bay-
"Yup, third door on the left" the door slides open.
"Yeah Leap, does the armoury have weapons?" Jim asks as he enters the room. He views the futuristic looking white room. There are two beds with a machinery above them, holograms everywhere and so on.
"No Master Olu, The Armoury, Kitchen, Storeroom and Weapon Systems weren't stocked and prepared before flight. The Laboratory from the schematics and inventory I have isn't complete also. Though the Med Bay is fully equipped".
"Alright, remind me to look at your schematics and show me what's missing after we loot the Pride. With my power and the Steins info, I'll see if I can do something before you leave" Jim says.
"Of course Master Olu, the syringes are in a bottom cabinet to the right" Jim sees a few cabinets but doesn't know which to choose from. A hologram forms on the cabinet showing a tick mark. He kneels and opens it. He sees a syringe pack and takes it before closing the cabinet.
He pops it open and sees two pieces of wool, a bandage, of gloves some rubbing alcohol in a small bag, same for some hand sanitiser and a syringe.
"Wow, this is convenient" Jim says.
He rips the hand sanitiser open using it to disinfect his hands. He then wears the gloves. He tears the alcohol bag with his teeth and puts them on the both wools. He rubs the skin over his median cubital vein and grabs the syringe. He makes a fist before carefully injecting it into the vein and drawing blood. He fills the bottle and carefully pulls out the needle. He grabs the other wool and wipes the area.
'No need for the bandage, it'll heal in a few seconds'.
"Place the bottle into the desk on your right Master Olu. Remember to dispose of the waste into the incinerator box" Leap says.
Jim sees a metallic desk that has a hole for the bottle. He reaches it and holograms light up. He reads a few types of tests that his blood will be going through.
"DNA test, Radioactivity, Toxicity-" there are over thirty different kinds. He drops the bottle into the hole that's a perfect fit. It enters halfway and stops.
"Beginning blood work" Leap says. The bottle is sucked in and the hole disappears.
"Estimated Time of Results: three hours twenty eight minutes". Jim nods and walks back to the bag he opened. He puts everything he used back inside and threw them in a box in the wall named incinerator before leaving the room.
"Sir, I'm guessing you wish to keep this test and it's results confidential".
"For now though. I want to know what I am first before I talk about it" Jim says with a sigh.
"Alright Master Olu. Though if Miss Yorkes or Master Stein ask I'm obligated to inform them".
"I know Leap, I know" Jim says leaving the ship, ramp closing behind him. He walks to the tap and turns it on. Water gushes out. He sees a water pipe going into the barn and nods.
"Well there's water, guess I can have a shower here so I don't have to go back to the library dirty with clean clothes" Jim says and he walks back into the barn. When he enters he sees that the girls have gotten up and the boys are with them. The barn is lit up by Karol's bioluminescent form.
"So Gert there's water. The buckets are in good condition. I'll be having a bath after training each day in one of those stalls. I don't want to change from this tracksuit to clean clothes dirty" Jim says.
"Yeah I passed by a few stalls that looked like huge showers, but I guess that they're for horses instead of people" Chase says.
"Cleaning the ship would be a hassle. I agree with you Jim, today after dropping off Jim we should buy some soap and shampoo" Gert says.
"Yeah, thankfully Leap helps with our Laundry" Karol says.
"Leap cleans your clothes?" Jim asks.
"Well my mom is famous for creating cleaning agents. So there are some far better ones on ship. They don't even use water I think. We just spray your cloth with it and it eats the dirt. There's a formula for each different clothing material, and the cleaning agent eats whatever isn't that clothing material" Chase says.
"Fuck, your parents are way too smart" Jim says.
"Yeah, usually we use these cleaning oils on our body, but every once in while we just get a motel or hotel to have a good shower" Karol says.
"Or maybe if we want a good bed" Nico adds.
"Where are your funds from anyway?" Jim asks.
"Before we ran we made sure to withdraw a few thousand dollars from our saving accounts. Our allowances are pretty huge" Molly says.
"Cool" Jim replies.
"So enough rest guys" Let's ger back to work.
"I do have one more question though" Jim says.
"Alright, what is it" Gert says.
"If most of your parent's organization is concentrated in the west, why are you east?".
"Well, before we left our friend Alex stole some info from his parents computer. It had some information about each pride family. It seems they all shared that information with each other. Nothing really big, but that's where Nico learnt about the Staff's vocabulary issue and Karol saw that Majesdanians are attracted to shiny and attractive stuff"
"So pretty useless information then" Jim says.
"Pretty much. They probably wanted to share their weaknesses so they could trust each other more, but they didn't share anything big enough to cause them real harm" Gert replies.
"True true... continue please" Jim says.
"Anyway he noticed something weird about one of the few pride facilities not in the west. It wasn't on the computer but Alex knew his mother kept a memoir so he went there. There's apparently some things they've found that can be used if the pride decides to attack the Gibborim. We decided to head there" Gert says.
"I see, alright. The security there must be huge. This emphasises our need for the hacking program then" Jim says.
"Yep, we're really thankful you're doing this" Molly says and they all nod.
"I'm apparently pretty okay at typing already. My hand speed has improved but I'm still lessening the need for corrections. Leap says in by the end of the week I'll be ready" Jim says.
"Thanks" says Gert.
"No prob, so what's next on the training" Jim asks.
"Well it seems important you pass the meditation today. You said you want us all to learn it?".
"You talked about it helping with your powers" Nico asks very interested.
"Well I manipulate energy, and when I meditate I fully flow and focus on it. It gets me more intimate with its control. Leap also said she has some trance creating tunes, truly the ultimate assistant".
"Leap do you?" Karol asks.
"I'm built to be the perfect assistant and configured to help the Yorkes on missions. If someone on ship needs to sleep or is agitated, I can play calming hypnotic rhythms to induce a form of trance. Apparently Jim has found it helpful in entering a meditative trance" Leap says.
"Alright. So let's pick up the earplugs from ship and let me teach you to meditate. I don't really think it'll be useful for Chase, but its nice for relaxing your mind and going through your thoughts as well" Jim says.
"No problem though, if I ain't feeling it I'll stop. Focus more on martial arts and physique. Sports have always been my thing anyway" Chase says with a grin.
"Great" says Jim, grinning back.
They head into the ship and open a drawer in the storage room. There are twelve tablets in it, eight wristwatches and fourteen sets of ear pods. The team each pick a set of ear pods, the team apart from Nico and Gert pick up a tablet as well. Jim takes his ear pods from his bag. They walk back into the barn.
"Please these tablets are now our friends. We each have to study the information we steal. It'll help us improve ourselves, so get used to taking it around more" Jim says. They all nod.
"You problably don't know this but you are hearing my voice from your ear pods right now. The noise cancellation, mixing and quality of these things make it seem like you're hearing me normally. That's how amazing this things are". The team all looked shocked and a few of them pull the grey plugs out of their ears.
"So sit in a lotus position please and follow my breathing" Jim says. As they all sit and begin to listen to Jim's instructions Leap begins to play some hypnotic tones.
Twenty minutes later.
"Let's all wake up now" Jim says opening his eyes himself. He sees Molly open her eyes first. It takes Gert, Nico, Victor and Karol take a few breaths to open theirs. They still seem to be leaving a trance.
'Seems it was more effective for those four. I expected that. Karol's an energy user like me. Same for the biotechnology android Victor. Nico uses Magic and is a Magical Mutate. While Gert has a mental power that uses prana. I still have to study this telepathy in detail. After I get the info would be the best time, the Yorkes will have notes on it' Jim thinks to himself.
He then turns to Chase who still looks to be in a trance and his eyes furrow. His eyes seem to be moving underneath his eyes like he's experiencing a dream. Jim moves to wake him up.
"Sigh, he's probably gonna enjoy it for the easy sleep. Chase is daydreaming guys" Jim says. He moves to shake Chase who suddenly opens his eyes as Jim touches him. They are both surprised and pull back a bit.
"Is everything okay, Chase" Gert says to Chase.
"I-I was thinking on the fistigons during the meditation. And I started having memories. I've felt this before, like I know things I shouldn't. It's how I built them in the first place. How is this possible? I was seeing advanced versions in my head, and suddenly I knew what to do to upgrade them" Chase says looking at his hands.
"Really? You've done some impressive things with tech too before we reached here" Gert says.
"Maybe he has powers?" Molly says.
"True, his parents are super geniuses, there's no way they didn't do something to protect their son from the pride. Maybe his mom at least" Jim says.
"Question is what kind of power is that" Gert says.
"Hmm, we should probably trance you again. I think the answer lies in what information he knows. And he says he feels like memories. If they are memories, they are someone's" Victor says.
"And I don't think it's a prana related thing. Your prana seemed pretty normal. It also seems it isn't a contact thing, cause before when this power acted you were in contact with technology" Jim says.
"What exactly did your parents give you Chase" Karol says. As she said this, Jim's eyes opened wide.
"Knowledge. They gave him knowledge" Jim says.
"What do you mean" Nico asks with a raised eyebrow.
"They gave him their memories on science and technology. That's why he has memories. Your dad has fistiguns right?" Jim asks.
"Yeah?" Chase says.
"Well that's probably how you knew how to make yours. You have all their knowledge till the point they did the transfer. I guess they really hoped for you to take the science route" Jim says.
"Yeah, I guess they did. Well I'll study this meditation thing more. I need to access those memories. I may not be the smartest, but I'm sure there are some awesome things I can do with all that info" Chase says resolutely.
"True, you've already created your own fistigons" Jim says.
"Well why don't you meditate for today? Leap can help. Just concentrate on different things" says Karol.
"Kar's right. Jim, Karol and Victor will be comparing their powers, I'm gonna be studying, same with Nico. What should Molly do by the way?" Gert says looking from skill to Jim.
"Well I still don't know how her powers work. I have a theory though, so she can hang with us. She may actually be an energy manipulator as well". Jim says.
"Alright, Chase we'll leave you to this" Gert says. They all tell Chase later and Gert and Nico go back to ship. Jim, Karol, Molly and Victor go to the other side of the barn.
"Let me test Molly's ability before we start" Jim says.
"So how do we do this?".
"Well I'll connect my prana and mana to yours or whatever is yours. If you want I can do it on Karol first." Jim says. Molly just shakes her head.
"It's fine, just hope it doesn't hurt" Milly says.
"Don't worry it won't" Jim replies, applying mana and prana to his hands. His hands get a purple sheen.
"Stretch out your hands, and use the breathing motions I taught you. Trust me, it'll be fine". Molly gingerly stretches out her hands and clasps Jim's. Instantly Jim feels some emotions from her.
'A bit of fear, resolve, bravery, shame?'. He also notices that she has more chi than most people he's met.
"Alright use your ability" Jim says. Molly nods and her eyes glow blue. Instantly Jim feels an energy surge within her.
'Her Chi is expanding and increasing in volume. Seems that's the answer to her superhuman physique, bio energy" The energy is still increasing and suddenly as if due to the connection they've made rushes out towards Jim from her hands.
"Argh" Jim gives a yelp of pain as he couldn't draw his hands away in time.
"Sorry! I'm so sorry-"Molly apologizes and is about to continue when Jim stops her. She looks a bit tired.
"It's fine, just a bruise. Will heal in a moment. You've got some shock tho. I've come up with a theory bout your powers" Jim says.
"Thanks and really?!" She says a bit sad at first but can't contain how excited she is to know more about her powers.
"Yeah, well we all have these two energies in us: Chi and Prana. Chi is physical and is also called bio-energy. Prana however isn't" Jim raises his hand up in example and his hand isn't glowing.
"For example it seems my main energy manipulation comes from controlling prana. Right now my hand has prana all over it, but you can't see it, cause it isn't physical".
"Ohhh, that's why you said I can't ser one of your powers back in the alley" Karol says.
"Yeah, but when I add chi to it, in a ratio of huge amounts of prana to small amount of chi, I get this". Instantly his hand begins to glow purple.
"Amazing" Molly says.
"Little amounts of mana is present in other people, though the ratio is very different than mine, more equal I think" Jim says.
"Even I have this?" Karol says.
"Yes, I don't think this is a race thing, but all living beings have chi and prana. Cause when you bumped into me, I felt it in you. But your mana is different though. Like there's something else added in. That is probably the Majesdanian thing" Jim explains.
"Hmm, alright" Karol nods.
"Need any explanations Vic?".
"Not really, but I would ask that you scan me after" He replies.
"Alright, so Molly your chi is very large. Very large and when you use your power it expands and grows rapidly. That is probably what makes you superhuman. No regular human has chi like you do".
"I'm awesome" she says.
"So why does she feel tired after?" Karol asks.
"Well it's your body that produces chi, so my guess is that she basically overworks her body to produce that amount. So she gets tired" Jim explains.
"What about the shock thing though, I felt some energy leave my hands" Molly says.
"I'm not sure, but I think that was a reaction to my own energy. Your energy kinda rushed out to meet it? My primary guess is whatever your body is doing to create that much chi is similarly increasing the bio-electricity creation. It's a hypothesis but when I get your parent's files I'll go through it and make sure" Jim says.
"Alright" Molly says.
"Okay, let me scan you Vic" Jim says. Victor nods and walks to Jim, putting his hands forward.
"Please be careful, if the accident before was electrical in nature, then you should be more cautious with me" Victor says.
"Thanks, I'll make sure to lower the amount of energy I use. Also don't actively use your power" Jim says. He stretches his hands and makes his mana way less than before. He then touches Victor.
"Hm, I feel prana and chi" Jim feels as Victor's mana is converted to electric signals.
'Amazing, his body is really a marvel. Also could I do that? Change mana to electric signals to control computers? Victor is basically a human computer after all'. Jim and Victor take back their hands after a few seconds.
"So what did you discover" Victor asks.
"Well you have chi and prana for one. Your mana also turns to electric signals weirdly. I barely understand the science behind your body but I got that at least" Jim says and Victor nods.
"So what do we train in first" Molly asks.
"We're gonna be doing a different kind of meditation. Lotus positions everyone".

So here's the hint chapter six. Realized I'm prolly not gonna be able to upload on Tuesday so I decided to drop it now. Also cause I can't resist dropping it. For now things are in a pretty chill phase for Olu/Jim. Good before bad and all.
