So the archers took the arrows that Jack had made and realized that he really had a different balance from the other arrows because of the weight, it would be difficult for them to get used to these arrows in just 2 days.
Jack and Alex also had to train to shoot with these arrows, Jack tried to make the arrow as normal as possible even with his weight, but it was impossible to aim as before with these arrows, he had to aim above the target to be able to hit.
With the heavier weight of the arrow, a stronger wind would also have more effect on that arrow making it deviate a lot from the target, Jack who had the idea needed only a day of training to get used to this new arrow.
Of course, he would never want to use that arrow to fight, but to hit a standing target it was possible that he would hit some shots even with the arrow not having the normal balance, if the other archers couldn't get Jack it would only take a few days to hit the 16 arrows in the wells.
Even so, Jack continued to train with the other archers to ensure he would improve, Jack also gave advice to the other archers on how to shoot correctly with the new arrow.
After two days of training the archers still couldn't say that they were ready for the mission, they were already able to hit the target several times and had learned to use the new arrow, but Jack said that they couldn't go wrong so as not to jeopardize the mission.
So as they couldn't go wrong, they thought it would be better to train for longer to be able to guarantee that they wouldn't go wrong many times when they tried to shoot the arrows in the wells, Jack saw the effort of the archers and gave them another day.
After another day the archers were still not confident, but Jack said that the mission would not work if they waited longer, besides, Jack looked at the base every day and realized that the thieves already suspected that the two thieves who Jack's group found them dead.
So Hector, who was already worried about the robbers from Robin's group who didn't come back, was even more worried thinking that they could be attacked in a few days, so Jack realized that there were more thieves watching over the walls of the thieves' base.
Fortunately, Hector was not such an intelligent leader and never thought to protect the water wells from the thieves' base, so the plan of Jack and the other archers would not change, Jack and Alex would be the first to try to hit the arrows in the wells.
The two climbed the tree prepared to stay for 4 hours on top of one of the branches, Jack had brought two ropes so that he and Alex would tie themselves to the tree so as not to risk falling, this was possible and they would die if they fell from the tree.
Jack told Alex to watch two of the wells and he would watch the other two, so when one of the wells was empty it would be a chance for them to shoot the arrows, if they were lucky they could finish this mission in just one day.
Jack had chosen this time for him and Alex because from what he had realized investigating the thieves' base, in the morning, early afternoon and late afternoon was when the wells were full.
That's because it was at these times when women prepared food for their families and also prepared their baths, so Jack chose to start early in the evening to do the mission.
Jack and Alex had better skills than the other archers and could hit the pits even at night and without seeing correctly, this was better because the thieves would not notice the arrows being shot and there would be fewer people in the pits.
After 2 hours they started this mission, the first opportunity appeared, Jack saw that in one of the wells he was watching, there was no one else in line to get water, so as soon as the last person left Jack called Alex.
"Alex, we have an opportunity, one of the wells is empty, we have some time to try to hit the arrows in that well, don't rush and just try not to miss."
Jack felt he was lucky because there was not much wind at that time to hinder his shooting, Jack took one of the arrows that had a clay pot with a few drops of poison, that pot would break as soon as the arrow hit anywhere.
Jack did this to make sure that the poison would spread in the well, but also to prevent it, after all, if they missed the well the thieves would only see an arrow on the ground because the pot would break and the poison would spread.
Jack put the arrow in the bow and started to focus like he hadn't done in a long time, Jack took care to do the correct posture for the shot and took a few deep breaths to calm himself.
After a few seconds, Jack pulled the arrow and fired at the well, after a few seconds he saw the arrow falling into the well and only when he saw it did he relax his posture without making noise because Alex was getting ready to shoot too.
