Chapter 7 - Home, Sweet Home... Kinda.

George found himself outdoors again, but this time was different. The amber glow of streetlights in his rural town stared back at him, as he looked deep to the sky. After finally recognizing one or two constellations, he finally realized he was back home. If anyone was out that night, I dearly apologize for when you heard:"WOOOOOOOOOO! I'm home bitches!" as George screamed in excitement. Living alone in the strange wilderness of Purgatory after having died was affecting him, though he kept it all together. Now was time to finally cope, so he leaned against the streetlight and fell asleep.

...

When George woke up, he was in a worn-down warehouse. In-fact, if I remember correctly... This place got shut down years ago. But why was he inside now?"Oi. Kid. Thanks for the rations, now why were you in my territory." A rough voice would emit from the roughly 5'11 man with a fairly decent muscular build; though, his brandishing of a lead pipe isn't exactly ideal.

-System alerts host that host and possessor are of ideal power level to eliminate target. Due to observation of live targets and host's memories, system has now added a measurement of "power" in host's statistics menu. Note: Power is measured in more ways than physical strength.-Well that's assuring, if something went bad George could just rip this guy to shreds. Though, that might be a bit awkward. The near-anorexic and pale George taking on a guy slightly taller and definitely more hench.

"I asked a question!" The man shouted and kicked George in the leg. With this, George snapped from his reverie and realized he was chained in a similar way to when he was in purgatory: his arms chained to the walls. Luckily, his legs were free and he was sitting in a cross-legged position. Though surprisingly, the kick from the man barely hurt. If anything it felt more like a nudge... Why?

-Answer: Host's physicalities have been greatly advanced due to Demonic Transformation as brought upon by Demonic Resurrection. Normally, Demonic Possession requires at least three weeks for this transformation to occur. Due to resurrection with a Highest-Tier Demon, notably, a Great Demon Lord... Host's body was immediately forced to embody demonic possessor whilst host was acclimating mentally and neurologically to death, resurrection, and rebirth as a Ghoul.-Although George was now speaking readily with the guy on the outside, he asked the system what exactly a Ghoul was."I was sleeping, sorry."

-Answer: A "Ghoul" is a resurrected human who has not begun the process of decay. This results in the body appearing most similarly to what the individual appeared as in-life, with very little differences due to death. This varies heavily, but thanks to host being reborn aproximately 3s after death, host's body is fully intact. Perfect Ghouls like this are normally rare, but host knows the reason why he is one.-Ah, thanks I guess, Levi.-"Yeah, sure."- With the sound of Levi slurping, it was very clear Levi was somehow drinking a milkshake, and although it was extremely uncomforting, George was a tad busy."Sleeping, huh? You have some fucking nerve to sleep in the territory of Don Gregori Parlem.""Wait... What?"-Answer: According to host's memories, host has been kidnapped by the Italian Mafia.-AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!This is a fucking nightmare!"Whatever. Here, you look skinny as all shit. Put some fucking meat on your bones." The man then tossed a packaged cheeseburger to George.George nodded and replied, "Thank you..." Then left as soon as his chains were undone.

"I'm sure we'll meet again..." The man said as he readied George's rations and began heading out from the warehouse, leaving the opposite direction as George.

...

As George walked the streets heading home, he felt quite different than he did just a few days ago when he'd play video games with his friends online, or roleplaying like a nerd on Discord. System, why do I feel so... Different?-Answer: As stated earlier, host's mentality and neurology has been edited due to possession, and death. Host has been reformatted to fear little to nothing as well as be what humans refer as "stoic".-Ah. That kinda sucks.-If hosts wishes, advanced spells can be cast using current list in-order to undo these changes. Such spells would have to be cast within the next five days, or a week from host's death. Beyond this, host's mentality will be set permanently. No spells or other events in-life, aside from life-changing ones, will be able to affect host's mentality. Most especially due to these edits...-

George debated whether or not to go through with such a life-changer immediately or contemplate it for a while, and continued walking along for another few hours...

...

Finally, George was home. He knocked three times on the door the entered."Coming in!"

He was met with a Police Officer sitting on the couch with his father whilst his mother cooked with his older brother, Adam, assisting.

"Honey, I'm home!" George prattled off. Immediately the Television was muted, dishes were dropped, and all four individuals stared at George, who had now been missing for 22 days, or three weeks and one day.

"Is that really you...?" His mother, Nikki, slowly trudged over to him before cradling his face with both of her hands on his cheeks, lightly pinching and prodding to make sure he was real and not some illusion.

"Uh, yeah." He replied awkwardly since his face was being assaulted by his slightly-deranged mother.

She began weeping on his shoulder as she hugged him tight enough to kill a not-so-lovely man. "We thought you were dead!" She sobbed into his bare shoulder, since he still hadn't put on a shirt after his... escapades.

George's father, Richard, simply rubbed George's shoulder with his head hanging lower, disappointed in himself for letting George disappear in such a "grand" fashion.

The officer, who later introduced himself as Second Lieutenant Parker Davidson, simply retorted once everyone had settled down. "We'll need an official statement from the boy, I'll leave ya'll in peace for a bit. Call my office and we can schedule an appointment for that statement." and he set down a business card on the kitchen's island-table. He left shortly after that, staring curiously at George's eyes.

-Warning: Individual "Parker Davidson" as written on individual's business card has recognized the change in host's eye color and demeanor. Please attempt to withhold changes in host's personality and physicalities.-Eye color? This was the first time George had heard of this!-Answer: It was not relevant before now. Host's eye color is currently a Yellow-Green due to presence of "Levi", King of Envy.-Well that's nice to know.

George simply hugged his mother back and waited for her to calm down so he could explain his tale of woe...

...

"...And then I met some guy from the mafia in an abandoned warehouse, and came home." George finally finished his story.

His mother and father stared in amazement, "Jeffrey did that? Really?" George nodded in reply."I never thought he would do something like that..."George told them that Jeffrey had kidnapped him and attempted to peacefully initiate sexual relations before George killed him with his bare hands. Although this disturbed his parents for a few minutes, their reaction had turned out for the better as they remembered all the strange things Jeffrey had done that day.

George nodded then replied, himself, "I didn't either, it's just likely I came back alive." His parents both nodded then begin writing out a confession for him... His father studied heavily into local, state, and federal laws as he was quite prone to getting into trouble when he was younger. (So was his mother, for that matter). With this, George was home, and relaxed into the couch and sighed as he drifted off into sleep once-more.

...

When he woke up, he was in a strange room. White-colored lights hanging by chandeliers would illuminate the place, which appeared to be a stranger's library. In it, Levi was sitting in a nicely tailored black suit with a white tie, reading "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu.

"Ah, welcome. Like what I've done with the place?""The hell is this?" George replied quickly, genuinely being confused by this. Wasn't this still his inner soul?-Answer: Host's mentality has accepted the presence of Levi, and thusby has allowed possessor to manifest ideal conditions inside host's body.-Ah. Okay then, whatever. Can't get much weirder."Guessing you heard the DRS reply to you, so I won't answer. Do you like it?"George looked around for a bit then answered, "It's pretty cozy I suppose.""Yeah, I thought so too. These books are horrible though, you can't remember literally any of them!" He laughed as he tossed the book aside, and George was absolutely flabbergasted when it moved itself into one of the shelves."So, anything you want to talk about, or do you just want to sleep?""Why were you so angry when we met the Mafiate.""..." Levi stared in silence for a bit, surprised George had decided to ask. He sighed before he answered, saying, "Maeon commonly deals with people like that. We're good friends, him and I, but I absolutely hate what those people do with his blessings. Maeon ALWAYS gets their souls. One-Hundred percent of the time. I'd ask if it was tiring, and his reply would always be: 'Not if you do it right'. He enjoys the thrill... A while back, I decided I'd stop a few cartels and mafias... That didn't go very well. I've gone through twelve hosts doing that shit, and I'm not gonna lose you to it."George was taken aback by the story, but more-so, Levi's seemingly genuine care for him. "Anyway, you'd best wake up now. You're gonna oversleep otherwise." Levi replied then quickly picked a new book and began reading.

...

Before long, George was awake on the couch looking into three pairs of eyes staring at him. They were all armed, being police officers, but it was unsettling none-the-less."Can I help you, officers?" George slowly stirred himself to speak, then waited for a reply."Huh, he really is fine." One of the officers replied then grabbed the Confession."Sign here, please." George did so, there was no reason not to.After that the officers left.

"Ma, why'd they stare at me while I slept?" George asked his mother."They thought maybe you had some trauma or physical injuries, but you're fine." She answered."Mm." George couldn't but think that they were technically right, but for all intents-and-purposes, it was better this way."Hey, is dinner ready yet? I'm starving." He mustered the words. His mother laughed for a bit, then replied. "Yeah, we've got some potatoes and gravy with Porkchops. Enjoy!" And she set a plate for him on the living room coffee table."Oh, I could've gotten it myself." George said, feeling guilty."I know." His mother replied, the kissed him on the top of the head.

For a first day back, it wasn't half bad.
