The twelfth village was still burning when it finally happened.
For hours, the God Words had lingered at the edge of my sight, refusing to reveal their judgment. They drifted through my vision like ghosts carved from pale blue light, whispering promises they would not yet fulfill.
Every fresh kill since the foothill passes, every shattered barricade, every settlement left behind in smoke had fed the volatile pressure building beneath my ribs. Yet, the glyphs answered only with the same endless decree:
[Calibrating...]
I had almost begun to believe the gods were mocking me, dangling a power I could not grasp while my green skin pricked and stretched with incomplete evolution.
Then, the world lurched.
It wasn't the earth beneath Vaska's heavy paws that moved. It was the alignment of my own spirit.
