Chapter 32 - 32. Accept?

Sitting in the class with my head resting on the bench, I was thinking of what to do. How should I explain this to my brother? It's really hard for me to believe and impossible for him. I was staring at my hands holding the phone. Should I talk with someone? But with whom? Only if Loren was here, I could discuss it with him. He always had answers to my questions and he somewhat knows about my father, I didn't know what I told him back then. Here I again started thinking about him. Scrolling the contacts on the phone as if his number will magically pop up, I abruptly stopped the process when I saw Jacob's name. Should I call him? He might freak out more than I am and he'll be sleeping at this time. Damn! I just want to smash my head on the wall so that any solution my fall out. This is stupid. I stood up to move to the other class. I should get something that justifies his words.

Classes went by one after another. We got home and I was staring at the paper which he gave me. There was a number written on it. Should I call him and ask for some proof. I cannot talk to him, I'll be out of words if I call. I'll message him. Saved his number, I messaged him telling it's me. He replied instantly.

'Do you have a picture of my mother?' I asked. This was the best thing I can ask, I can't directly demand any validation, after all, he asked me do I believe him. He can take my question as 'I might want to see my mother', which is true though, I definitely want to see her. The proof thing will be a far guess.

After that question, I didn't get a reply. Whether he had a picture or not. Maybe he didn't have any, it's been years after all. Plugging the phone into the charger, I went to take a bath. When I was back, Adam was sitting on the bed.

"Want something?" I asked.

"You said you'll talk later about why you were crying." He said.

He remembered. I can't tell him anything now. He's bothered because I rarely cry. And I never cried in front of him until yesterday.

"Not now," I said and turned to unplug the charger.

"C'mon, I waited for more than 24 hours." He walked towards me. "By the way, your phone was buzzing."

"Since when did you start counting the hours," I asked. There were messages from him.

"Don't change the topic." He came and stood in front of me.

"I am busy right now, later Adam." I opened the messages.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

'Admund will not believe even if you show him her picture. You should find another way to convince him.'

This was the first message I got. Who was I fooling? A lawyer. Next was a picture, a picture of a woman sitting on a chair holding bouquet of white daisies. Her eyes were blue with long blonde hair, pinned at one side. Her lips were curled up into a smile. She was wearing a long blue dress covering her whole form. Her features resemble mine, but she was more beautiful than me.

"Who's she?" Adam asked.

"Do not peek at other's phone." I locked my phone.

"Levy, what's going on?" He asked.

Since when he became concerned about what I do or not.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked.

"You." He snapped and turned to walk out. I stopped him.

Sitting on my knees in front of him I said. "Adam there's nothing wrong with me. I'll let you know everything, give me some more time."

"Ok," He hugged me. "And please don't cry." And said.

"I am not crying and stop acting like an older brother." I chuckled.

When he left I read the remaining messages

'And ask Admund to have an eye on John Anderson's bio.'

How did know him? And why was he asking this? I replied 'why' but he didn't answer.

I laid on the bed waiting for the time to pass. When I turned right, I saw the keyboard which Jacob gifted me. Walked to the table, I stood in front of it and began to play it. I was lost in the music when Ayra came in.

"You play well." She said standing behind me.

I suddenly stopped playing. "I know only this song."

"Come here." She took me to the bed where a dress was placed on it. She handed me the dress. "Wear it, I'll be waiting out."

When did she bring this here?

"But why?" I asked.

"Not a particular reason. I liked this dress, so I picked it for you."

I looked at the dress and sighed. Was she playing a dress-up game with me?

I changed and asked her to come in. She entered with more dresses in her hand.

No.

"I am not-" She hushed me off.

"Try this all." Handing me all the dresses she turned to leave.

She's playing.

"You should stop going to that boutique," I said.

"She is my friend, you should come too."

I shook my head and tried every dress.

Later, when brother came, I went to his room to talk. Knocked on the door, I entered. Taking a deep breath, I spoke.

"Can we talk?"

Leaving the work that he was doing, he looked up at me. "What is it?"

"I know, you wouldn't believe what I am going to tell you. But listen once." I said and he gave a nod.

I told him everything. From the start to the end, that he came to the university today and told who I am, why he married her, about her brothers, when he brought me to the home, why he left and what he wants now. After listening to my long story he just said one thing.

"So you're meeting him."

What?

Not wanting to move the conversation to a negative side, I kept myself calm and told him about John Anderson.

"How does he know about-" He halted his sentence in a middle way.

"Brother?"

"Now everything makes sense." He said after brief thinking.

"And what is that everything?" I asked.

"How was this man John Anderson?"

"He was one of our employees and the in-charge of that project," I said and asked. "What about him?"

"He was a spy of the people who kidnapped you. After getting the information about you he joined the company."

"What? How do you know that and how did he get the information?"

"Probably he planned someone else to do that. I send Mr. Willson to get information about the kidnappers. After what you said, it's obvious who are the kidnappers."

"You mean father know-" I covered my mouth with my hands, I referred that man as a father.

"Yes."

"That means everything that he told is true," I said.

Without giving me a reply he stood to walk out of the room.

"Where are you going? You do believe his words now." I followed him to stop him.

"Admund! Now you know his reasons, there's no point in not accepting him." I stood at the door blocking his way.

He averted his gaze from me, waiting for me to move. I know how it feels to suddenly have a father in your life, after all these years living without him. How can I ask for a quick reply, I should give him some time.

"Please think about it." I lowered my voice and left the room.

Getting out of the room, I saw Adam standing beside the door.

"Eavesdropping, huh?" I said.

"No. I was searching for Marshmallow." He said then added. "And overheard." He lowered his gaze.

"Come." When we're in my room, I asked what he had heard.

"Almost everything." He said.

"So?"

"We have a father."

"And?"

"It's up to brother whether he'll be accepted or not."

"More?"

"This was the reason you were crying," He said, then ended it with. "That's it."

He didn't know I am his half-sister. Should I tell him? No, it's not necessary.

"What do you want Adam?" I asked. Is he fine with it?

"I don't know." He sat on the bed. "If we have a family somewhere far away, I would like to have them close." He said and laid back.

He's right, we were always an incomplete family. None of us said anything after that. Before going to sleep, I send the picture of mother to brother. I didn't think it's fine to send it now, but I didn't even want to hide it. Let's see what tomorrow holds for us.
