Chapter 123 - Not a Paradise

...

Ivory found herself helping Orion study in her bedroom after the Christmas Party. The servants were in the midst of tidying up the entire mansion after all the attending guests left. Orion had to take a multiple choice test on mind control, and he had his mother read the questions and choices out loud, then he would answer, and she would take the study guide and tell him why he was correct or incorrect.

Ivory noticed he started getting most of the questions correct.

"All right, you'll pass for sure," Ivory slapped the packet onto her leg. "I'm definitely hiding my mind from you!"

Orion laughed and shook his head. "To be fair mother, I'd never read your mind."

"You're a little liar!" Ivory teased.

"Promise," he swore. "Except on Christmas so I'd know what to buy you."

"You're not half bad, Orion!" Ivory smiled.

The door opened, and Ivory and Orion glanced at the figure in the door frame.

"Orion, let's continue tomorrow before your exam. Lily and I need to catch up."

Orion nodded, took the packet, and walked past Lily, but not before quietly glancing at her.

"You missed the party," he said.

Lily nodded as Orion walked away.

"Close the door; he can read minds," Ivory warned.

Lily closed the door quickly.

"Where were you? I asked Harley if she had seen you, and she wasn't sure where you were."

Lily sighed. "There's something I need to tell you," she said.

Ivory nodded.

"Blue sent me on a mission," Lily replied. "I know he doesn't send anyone on missions during holidays, birthdays, or events, but he needed me to go into town."

"What's going on?" Ivory narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

"There are rumors," Lily said quietly, "Rumors of another rebellion happening."

"Where did Blue hear that from?"

"He heard some of the human workers whispering it amongst each other. He doesn't want to attack now. He wants me to watch and see who is involved and who isn't. I guess this is his way to ensure he can trust me again."

Ivory nodded. After Harley killed Lucky, Blue had a harder time trusting Lily for a while. This would be a good way to redeem herself. Ivory couldn't help but feel that something wasn't right. She couldn't pinpoint it. And he had no idea why he would want Lily to run such an operation, as Lily always kept eyes on the maids and made sure they were doing their jobs and not gossiping, or she'd tune in on an assignment that her sister or Spike couldn't get to because they were too busy. She was everyone's assistant, except Blue's. She filled in the in-between assignments.

When Lily wasn't assisting other members, she would mainly help Spike keep track of his orders: who bought, who didn't pay, who partially paid, how often customers bought drugs.

Harley, Red, Lucky, and Hawks were Blue's most trusted and were the ones that did most of the spying.

Rover was the hacker; he dealt with anything hacking related. Harley had helped when she didn't need to spy on anyone.

"Did you eat yet?" Ivory asked.

"I didn't. I'm pretty hungry!"

"Let's go eat. I could use another place of lasagna!" Ivory chirped, and the two friends went to the kitchen.

As Ivory followed Lily to the kitchen, she couldn't help but feel Lily wasn't being fully honest with her. They told each other everything; though, Ivory knew that some people just had secrets that they didn't want to share.
