Chapter 3 - My first Travels 3

It's been about 3 days and we are finally leaving the forest. Although nothing really happened, we just walked and walked and walked some more. The people around me seemed really tense though as if they expected some sort of monster to jump out at any moment. I've tried to listen in to any and all conversations between the group members to see if I could learn something... and I've learned nothing. It's impossible to learn a strange new language in just a few days without at least a starting point. I've got nothing. Well I can't really say I've learned nothing, after this long a time together I've at least got their names memorized. As we begin our way out of the forest we come out into a vast green grassland that seems to stretch on forever like some green ocean. With the wind gently blowing the gras like waves, it was beautiful. Although sadly I didn't get much time to marvel at the sight as Davin was already yelling something and we moved on quickly into the grasslands.———-

Time seems to be flying by as now two days have passed since we left the forest and entered the grassland. Nothing really changed except the looks the male members of the group keep giving Christina become increasingly lecherous. I've no idea what they are saying but I'm sure they have it out for the poor beautiful elf. I've decided to try and guard her against them by never leaving her side. Once, the man named Cass even tried to sneak into a watering hole we found while Christina was taking a nighttime bath there. Though he left in a miserable state after I slung rocks I picked up from the ground at his head. He didn't seem able to see anything even though the night time here seems almost bright as day just with different shades of colors. Even the others group members seem to always need a torch to travel around at night. Strange... maybe it's a cultural thing. Today was looking to be another boring day but then as I looked into the distance I could see what looked like a caravan of carts all lined up traveling slowly forward. I don't think anyone else notice so I grabbed Christina's hand and point into the distance. She looks confused but then squints her eyes while looking in the direction I pointed. She then yelled something to the other and they all cheer and rushed forward quickly. I hurried and rand to keep up. After rushing forward for a long while we finally caught up with what turned out to be what I assume are traders. After Davin slowly walked forward and introduced our group they stood a while and argued until the representative from the caravan nodded his head and my traveling companions cheered. Christina grabbed my hand again and lead me to the front of the caravan where she place me on the back of the cart and climbed in herself. So now the two of us just sat and watch as the same scenery slowly went by as we dangled our legs off the back of the cart.————

It is the second night since I have joined the caravan, and I must say it's really really.... boring.

I have no one to talk to, and nothing to do. I can look around but it's the same scenery for miles. Christina is slow making her and my sleeping bag ready. It's really just a blanket with some padding on the bottom. She calls me over with what I assume they are using as my name but I don't know. I go and lay down next to her and give her a smile getting ready so snuggle close and go to sleep. However, I can feel something bothering me, it's like a fly that is buzzing close to my ear but I can't hear anything specific. It seems to have gotten worse now that I'm on the ground. I frown, and decide to get back up to walk off my anxiety, when I'm shocked! As soon as I placed my hand on the ground to help prop myself up I felt it! The ground was vibrating as if a train was getting close, but there are no trains here? It sounded and felt like thousands of feet running across the floor at the same time... My eyes grew wide when it all clicks. It's hooves from horse's, and the only group on horses running around this late would be bandits! Robbers! Criminals! I still can't talk their language and Christina is already looking at me worried. I know however that this is important and the people of the group need to be warned. I quickly got up and ran to the nearest Cart climbed on top and began shouting and waving my arms while pointing into the distance. At first only a few people seemed to stir and look toward the commotion I'm causing. Christina is already at the cart trying to get me down. I could see Davin is trying to make his way over, pissed off at the racket I'm making. No one seems to notice what I have, no one is aware yet! Why! Why can't they hear it? I could practically see the group coming in the distance and yet no one has noticed a thing!!! My mind is racing my heart is pounding but I can do nothing to warn them!! I think back on all that I've heard them say but nothing useful comes to mind. What do I do?! Must I watch them be attacked unprepared?! Then I remember the words from Jean. Back in the forest and every night since, when she's got the pile of wood she looks at it and mumbled something and poof fire. What did she say? what were the words?!? They are closer now! I could see they slowed down and are trying to approach quietly. Think damn you think!! What was it. Christina and Davin are now arguing and Davin suddenly steps forward and backhanded slapped her hard! Hard enough for blood to drip from her nose and mouth! {Fire} Like a roar in my mind I can hear shouting in my mind. It's knowledge that I've always known but it just surfaced. "{Fire}" I slowly said the word but it came out as a animalistic guttural roar. Then a bright blue flame came to life in front of me. It instantly consumed Davin. I watched as he tried to yell but the fire consumed him quickly. Finally everyone was up and looking at me shocked and scared. This was a good start but not what I needed. So I looked towards the approaching bandits and again yelled "{Fire}" this time I didn't aim at anyone or anything. I focused on the air above the bandits and tried to make the flame as bright as possible. It worked! Soon a bright blue light from the flames illuminated the entire camp and bandits!
