The stack of towels nearly slipped from Hadriel's hands. "M-master?"
Livius was the first to recover. He immediately rushed toward the terrace doors. His hand grabbed the handle. Locked. Still locked from the inside. He pulled the curtain aside.
The wolf assigned outside immediately turned toward him. The guard looked just as confused.
Livius didn't waste another second. He closed the curtain again and spun around. "Hadriel."
The younger healer had already placed the towels on the sofa. He hurried to the bedside where the monitoring cables lay disconnected.
He crouched beside them. "They were removed." His eyes widened. The sensors hadn't been ripped away. Someone had intentionally detached every single one.
Livius's heartbeat quickened. "Check the bathroom." He was already heading for the door. "The hallway too."
"What about you?"
"I'm informing the officers." He didn't wait for another reply. He sprinted out of the room.
