Chapter 302 - What's the First Rule?

"Do you know where everyone is?" I asked, running beside Felix through the well decorated hallway.

He shook his head, "I know their general area where they ran off too. This castle is too large to know exactly where anyone is."

He wasn't kidding. This thing was honestly the size of a small town and with how many floors there were? Yeesh I can't imagine trying to live here. The hallway we ran through was shockingly empty. No monsters and no doors. The only sound was that of the ongoing storm outside. I could see flashes of lightning from the corner of my eye as we ran by some of the windows.

"Climbing up the fortress might be our best bet at finding whoever that monster was that separated you from everyone else. Let's be on the lookout for the sound of fighting though as Steven ran off on his own looking for you." Felix said with a hint of irritation in his voice.

I raised an eyebrow at that, "Did he now?"

Felix nodded, "Aye. I tried to stop the fool but he had such a determined look in his eye."

The two of us went silent as we ran through the hall, eventually finding a staircase that only led one floor up. Whoever designed this fortress was a real jerk. Who makes a flight of stairs only go up one floor when this place easily has over fifty? Better yet, why does this new hallway and the one below us have no rooms besides that dining room we emerged from. It's like this area was a tucked away secret even from the inhabitants.

"Do you hear that?" Felix suddenly asked.

His words snapped me out of my head, "Hear what?"

The two of us stopped moving and I held my breath to try and hear whatever Felix was hearing. Very faintly, the sound of iron clashing against iron could be heard at the very end of the hallway. Felix and I exchanged glances before dashing towards the noise, stopping when we saw a single door in front of us with the words, "Fight Club" engraved on the stone above the doorframe.

"Here, I'll take care of the door. Just stand aside real quick." I said, walking up to the door.

Felix raised an eyebrow before letting out a short breath, "Sure sure." Felix stepped to the side and leaned against the stone wall, watching me closely.

"Well we both hear the fighting going on. Either the monsters here are fighting each other or we find one of our party members. Here goes nothing!" I took a deep breath before raising my foot and slamming it into the door.

The door broke off its hinges and flew through the room, creating a loud slamming noise when it collided against the wall. In the center of the room was a stage where a familiar face stood. Steven looked over at me while being surrounded by a large group of monsters that also turned to face me.

Steven's eyes widened, "You're back!"

Felix walked to my side so Steven could see him as well, "Did we interrupt something, Mr. Run Off On My Own?" Felix grinned to himself.

"Not really, no. Feel free to join in on the fight whenever though." Steven readied his weapon.
