Mei arrived on the battlefield between the land of Hot water and the land of Frost, seeing that the allied forces were in a bit of a bind, having to face Yugito the 2nd tail Jinchūriki of Kumugakure. Yugito was an S-class jonin level shinobi, being smart and deadly. That and the fact she was a perfect Jinchūriki, making her the total package being a Kage-level threat.
Yugito had also sensed the powerful chakra appear on the battlefield while digging her claws into a set of Leaf shinobi before she looked over toward the direction that Mei's chakra was coming from.
"Seems they still have some high-level shinobi to bring to the fight after all..." Yugito said before she flicked the blood from her long fingernail claws.
"Lady Mei, the recon unit has reported that the 2nd tail Jinchūriki is on the north side of the battleground." The Mist captain said.
"Alright, give the order to pull our men back, and make sure the Leaf do the same!" Mei said, placing her hands together to concentrate her chakra.
"Y-Yes ma'am." The Captain said, quickly barking orders to those around him to get a move on.
"You heard her, get moving!"
"Sir, the enemy forces are retreating back." One of the Cloud shinobi reported to Darui.
Darui was still watching from his vantage point, keeping tabs on everything that was going on in the battle.
"I can see that..." He said, seeing that the fight had been even so far, wondering what the Mist and Leaf were up to.
Mei watched as the allied forces got clear of her path, meaning it was time for her to unleash her jutsu.
"Hidden jutsu, hidden mist vapour!" Mei said as she suddenly breathed out a huge amount of mist from her mouth, keeping the amount going and going as it created a huge cloud that threatened to cover the entire battlefield.
"What the hell is that?"
"More mist?" Some of the Cloud shinobi said, wondering what was going on.
Darui and some of the other captains watched as the mist enveloped the battlefield, not seeming impressed.
"They must be trying to use the mist as cover for their retreat!" One of them yelled.
"Don't let them get away, now is the time to press on the attack!" Another yelled, getting a battle cry from the Cloud shinobi as they charged into the mist, unknowing of the danger it posed.
More and more of the cloud shinobi ran into the mist, charging headfirst as they wanted to press on the attack and take out the allied forces once and for all, thinking they had them on their back foot.
However, Darui didn't like the look of this fog, getting a bad feeling about it.
"No... Get the men out of there now!" He yelled, only to see that he was too late in giving the order.
Mei could sense how many of them had charged into her mist, being able to detect their presence inside of it.
More than half of their forces have charged in... Time to get to work. Mei thought, smiling to herself as she continued to breathe out the mist, suddenly changing the PH level.
The Cloud shinobi charged through the mist, trying to see what direction they were going before they noticed that it was getting a little warm.
When the acid mist finally took effect, the cloud shinobi's skin began to tingle before their clothing began to dissolve. Not a moment after their bare skin started to burn, melting all of them and forcing them to let out an agonising screech of suffering from inside the acid mist that now covered most of the battlefield.
"W-What the hell is happening!" One of the Cloud captains cried out, hearing the dying screams of his men.
"There is only one shinobi I can think of who is capable of doing something like this..." Darui said, having an image of Mei come to mind.
Yugito also watched as the mist crept toward her and a large portion of the other Kumo units, having just listened to the screaming of those who had run into it.
"Get back!" Yugito yelled, knowing that if that mist touched any of them it would be the last thing that ever did.
The cloud shinobi did as she said, after all, everyone in the village loved and respected Yugito, looking up to her leadership and strength.
The only way to get rid of something this size is with an extremely powerful wind-style jutsu... Yugito thought as she tried to think of a way to stop the fog's advance, watching as it melted everything it touched as if it was eating it like some sort of monster.
However, she couldn't think of anyone who had such a jutsu among them, knowing that the wind release was rare in Kumugakure.
"No choice then..." Yugito said, making sure that the others got clear of her before she acted.
"Here we go, Matatabi!" Yugito yelled as she suddenly became engulfed in a blue fire before fully transforming into the two tails, Matatabi.
Yugito let out a powerful roar and used her law paws and powerful tails to create a huge shockwave, blowing the acid mist away from herself and the other Cloud shinobi.
Mei and the other watched as Yugito transformed into the two tails and pushed the acid mist back toward them, causing Mei to frown and stop blowing it from her mouth.
"Darn it..." She said, quickly changing the PH level back to normal just in time, watching as the fog covered the allied forces without causing them any harm.
Yugito also noticed this fact and paid close attention best she could see, trying to locate the one responsible.
"No matter, let's see how they like this!" She yelled out, letting loose a huge blast of fire from her mouth, shooting a giant fireball toward the allied troops, waiting to see what they would do.
"That fireball is huge!" Mei yelled, never having seen one as big before.
"Quickly, water wall now!" Mei yelled out, getting everyone that was able to create a huge wall of water, with each of them spraying as much water from their mouth as they could, creating a powerful wave that swallowed the fireball harmlessly.
"Don't let up, everyone, keep it going!" Mei shouted as she sprinted forward, leaping onto the waves and surfing it with her feet until she reached the peak of the enormous wave. She then glided through the water with ease while the wind blew her hair wildly out of her face heading toward Yugito.
Yugito watched as the wave came toward her and the others, seeing the size of it and knowing it would be a problem.
"Wait a second... Who is that!" She then yelled out, watching from her inner world as she spotted Mei on top of the huge wave.
"Everyone get back!" Yugito roared, giving the order for the others to clear out of the way of the wave's destructive power, seeing that it had grown as large as she was in her tailed beast form.
Yugito focused her chakra into her mouth, shooting a barrage of giant fireballs toward Mei while jumping back into the air to create distance.
Mei watched as the fireballs flew toward her, quickly flipping out of the way in a perfect cartwheel through the air before the fireball crashed into the top of the wave, having little effect.
Mei landed back on the water, wobbling a little as she had to control her chakra perfectly through her feet to keep balance on the raging waves current before she formed a series of hand signs.
"Water dragon barrage!"
Three large water dragons fired out of the wave as if they had been lurking within the water. The water dragons crashed into the giant fireballs, creating powerful explosions in the air, creating large plums of boiling steam as the fire and water clashed in the air, spitting out raindrops all over as a result.
Yugito landed back on the ground, watching as the wave towered over her now, leaving her with nowhere to go and no other option.
"Got you!" Mei yelled as she created more hand signs, summoning another barrage of water dragons that shot out from the water, biting and locking themselves around Yugito before she could do anything.
Yugito tried to struggle and even started to charge a tailed beast bomb in her mouth, knowing there was no other choice.
Mei roared with her own battle cry as she and the wave crashed over Yugito, swallowing her large body as the water dragon held her in place, leaving her with nowhere to go and being crushed by the wave's power, creating a huge shockwave as the powerful mass of water crashed against the ground.
Although Mei had launched a huge tsunami upon her opponent, a powerful crimson chakra blast appeared to resist it and instead ripped a hole in the water just in time for Yugito to jump out and launch herself into the air through the opening of the waves.
"Shit..." Mei said, watching as the tailed beast bomb exploded in the air, creating a huge and powerful shockwave.
Yugito was thinking the same thing, not believing how strong her opponent was having been able to corner her like that.
"We can't let up the attack, everyone with me!" Mei yelled, creating more hand signs before a water dragon shot out from the water again, wrapping around Yugito's neck, with more following and biting Yugito's paws and body, aiming to restrain and drag her down into the water.
"Yes ma'ma!" A number of Mist jonin yelled, doing the same to help Mei restrain Yugito, joining her on the water with their own jutsu.
The Leaf captain and other shinobi from the Leaf watched in awe at the amazing efforts of Mei and the other Mist shinobi, watching as they fought to subdue the two tails in an epic struggle.
"No... I won't let you!" Yugito roared, gathering more charka in her mouth, shooting another barrage of giant fire balls before charging another tailed beast bomb.
Mei knew what was coming and remembered what Fuyōna had told her.
-Flashback-
Mei found herself alone with Fuyōna inside the war room as they looked over the map.
The topic of each potential threat and possibility of attack was the topic as they talked about what each side might bring to the table in these battles, with the other village's Jinchūriki being one of them.
"Mei... Do you understand the true power of a Jinchūriki?" Fuyōna asked.
"Yes my love, of course." She said, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You are one of the only other people in our village who has the power to battle against a Jinchūriki who has mastered the power of their tailed beast," Fuyōna said, knowing they would face such a threat.
"So far the Stone is yet to reveal Han, the Jinchūriki of the five tails, also a perfect Jinchūriki. Of course, you have met Killer B the eight tails... Lastly, that leaves Yugito, the Jinchūriki of the two tails, another perfect Jinchūriki..." Fuyōna said as he put the pieces in place on the war table.
Mei watched as he put the pieces in their place, seeing that he had placed the five tails in the land of Grass and the two tails in the land of Frost, predicting where they would attack from.
"The Raikage won't risk letting his brother fight on the front lines right away... But Yugito is another story." Fuyōna said, studying the board carefully.
"I will need you to bring her down." Fuyōna then said, turning to face Mei.
"And why is that?" Mei asked as she pointed her finger against Fuyōna's chest, slowly sliding it up toward his chin.
"Because, my love. Yugito and her tailed beast specialize in fire release." Fuyōna said with a smile as he grabbed her lower back, pulling Mei in closer.
"I see..." Mei said, looking into her husband's eyes before planting a kiss on his lips.
Fuyōna kissed her back before breaking the kiss and looking into her eyes.
"Just remember one thing..." He said, getting serious all of a sudden.
"If you push her into a corner, there is no doubt that she will have to resort to a Jinchūriki's most powerful weapon." He said, getting a questioning look from Mei.
"Most powerful weapon? Other than the fact they have nearly limitless chakra?" She asked.
Fuyōna laughed before he let go of her back and took her hand in his, using it to spin her around like they were dancing.
"No, not limitless." He said before stepping toward her, taking her lower back again while keeping her hand on top of his.
"The tailed beast bomb." He said.
Mei knew what it was, remembering the destructive power of the ability.
"The best way to stop this attack is to seal the tailed beast's mouth shut, for the second tails, my best bet would be with a water jutsu..." Fuyōna said before he leaned back in for a deep kiss, taking Mei there and then on the war table.
-End of flashback-
Mei watched as Yugito tried to gather a large amount of chakra in her mouth, fighting against the water dragons that had wrapped around her neck and paws.
"I won't let you!" Mei yelled, creating more hand signs with expert skill before another barrage of water dragons burst out of the water, their eyes glowing red before they crashed against the giant fire balls, pushing through them before they wrapped around Yugito's mouth, sealing it shut, causing the chakra she had gathered to explode in her own mouth.
"Now!" Mei yelled, taking full advantage of the damage that Yugito had just sustained using her and the other water dragons to pull Yugito down into the mass of water, dragging her down into the depths, creating a huge splash.
"No! We can't let them capture Yugito!" Darui yelled, giving the order to attack, also jumping into the battle himself, knowing that if she was taken out they would lose this fight.
"Don't let them interfere!" The captain of the Leaf shinobi yelled, getting those who had been watching to counterattack against the remaining Cloud shinobi, clashing against one another with weapons and jutsu.
Mei could feel she had already used a large amount of chakra, however, she knew that she needed to do one final thing that would put a stop to Yugito, taking away the cloud's most powerful weapon on the western front.
Mei and the others all knew what was coming next, preparing themselves to channel their chakra along with Mei.
"Water style, water dragon barrage!" Mei and the others cried out before all of them clapped their hands against the water, creating smaller water dragons inside the body of water, sending hundreds of them shooting toward Yugito as she continued to fight the larger water dragons under the water.
"I can't use any fire release under the water!" Yugito thought as she wrestled with the powerful water dragons under the water. That and the fact that she couldn't breathe under the water.
Yugito ripped one of the water dragons off her front paw, trying to claw the others away from her mouth with a mighty swipe.
"Get off me!" She roared, trying to gather more chakra into her mouth again, causing it to glow red.
However, the small army of water dragons smashed into Yugito like torpedoes, exploding on contact one after the other, blaster her over and over again until Yugito finally lost her breath, breathing in water causing her vison to get blurry.
"No... I can't loose here..." She said, feeling herself drifting away into the depths of the water.
"Don't let them capture Yugito!" Darui cried out as he shot a barrage of his gale-style laser circus toward Mei and the other Mist shinobi who were standing on the large body of water.
Some of the Mist Jonin jumped out of the way, only to be followed by the attack before getting blasted, however, the few who were more experienced either blocked the attack or deflected it with another jutsu, with Mei doing the same.
Darui could see that Yugito had been completely subdued under the water, looking as if she was floating and had fallen unconscious.
"I won't let you get away this time!" Darui yelled, drawing his sword before he burst across the water toward Mei, engaging in another battle with her as the two clashed, creating a small shockwave on the surface of the water.
More Cloud shinobi also landed on the water, clashing with the other Mist ninja that were there also.
Mei blocked Darui's sword slash with a kunai and matched his strength so she could look into his eyes. "I think you mean, this time no one will be here to save you!" Mei said before winking at him, causing Darui to push her away and land back on the water, preparing a large number of hand signs.
