I awake on the beach of a small island with the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea. I'm greeted by the hearty laughter of my captain.
As I look up and I see him, I notice something is off about the pirate lord. He has become a ghost. As I stare at him I'm flooded by memories of our previous battles against the legendary ship, the Burning Blade and it's Captain FlameHeart.
I remember that our worn cannons were not enough to take them down, and their out numbered us greatly. My last fragment of memory is the skeletal captain of the Burning Blade cutting my captain down through the flames of battle, as our ship sinks down into the depths.
As I stand up, I take a good look of my surroundings and find wrecked sloop on the beach. I take one last glance at my captains ghost as he fades away, looking at me with a smile. I walked over to the sloop and search for supplies along the way.
I'm able to gather the necessary equipment to begin my journey to become a legendary pirate within the Sea of Thieves. At the wreckage of the sloop I'm able to repair the holes and mast, and set sail out of this island. Most of the world is covered by a red fog and sea, that has been named the Devils Shroud, and the longer you are in it, the more damage you shall sustain. I am lucky to be in an area untouched by the devils shroud, however I can see it moving closer on the horizon.
After repairing the ship, i use the harpoons located near the bow of the ship and pull myself into the water. There is only one path that I can travel, due to the Devils Shroud surrounding me. I can only hope to make it to the last remaining area there the Devils Shroud is unable to reach, the Sea of Thieves.
I have always loved sailing out in the open ocean, with the smell of the sea, and the and the feel of the wind. I'm able to make it two nautical miles before some trouble emerges from the depths of the sea. It's a Skeletal Galleon, a behemoth of a ship compared to my small sloop, yet it is not fear I am feeling, it's excitement. The excitement and exhilaration of a battle on the open seas fills me to the bone.
I fire the first cannonball at them and hit their lower deck. A small amount of damage compared to the size of their ship, however they have 4 cannons aimed at my sloop. Things are looking grim as I steer the ship left and right in a zig-zag pattern to avoid their cannonballs, yet I am still hit. In the midst of repairs, something feels off, and I rise from belowdecks to see the issue.
As I emerge from below deck, I notice dark inky waters beneath our ships. It is the most feared creature within the sea, the Kraken. The enormous creature used its tentacles to snatch the skeleton galleon and drag them to the depths, never to be seen again. I should be safe, as those Kraken tend to be territorial. In the distance I can see the lights of an outpost, the Ancient Spire outpost.
After the Kraken dragged the ship down to the depths, it was smooth sailing until I reached the outpost, and docked my ship. To celebrate my survival of such an unlikely situation, I fill my stomach with food and grog.
The next morning I begin to think of what I need to do in order to become a pirate legend, and decide that in order to make a name for my self I should earn gold and reputation through the trading companies, and gather a large crew. The Gold Hoarders deal with digging treasure through maps or riddles, or the Order of Souls, who deal with battling Skeletons, or lastly the Merchant Corps, who deliver goods to sea posts and other people on islands. As for a crew, I will gather more members as I gain reputation until I am able to build my fleet.
I decide to start with the Gold Hoarders, because they allow the collection of the most gold. And walk up the staircase of the Tavern to meet with my old friend, Skepps. A trusted pirate I have met on many occasions who always offered to help a hand. I am able to grab a job from the Gold Hoarders to dig up a chest from an island that is marked on a map.
We raise up the anchor and set sail towards a small island called Paradise Springs where the X is marked.
