Quinn Leroy took her temperature: 38 degrees. Not very high, but definitely not low.
He hurried to cool Renee Langdon down, but it had no effect at all. All the way till dawn, her temperature kept holding.
Logically, she should have been going through continuous high-altitude sickness. They'd already dealt with it; usually, after adapting for one to two weeks, the symptoms disappear on their own. So why was she suddenly running a fever today?
Quinn Leroy tried every method he could think of.
He also had people ask around if anyone knew any other emergency measures, but as noon approached, Renee's temperature still hadn't dropped. It even showed signs of rising, and she lay in a deep, unbroken sleep.
They couldn't keep this up. This obviously wasn't a solution.
Quinn Leroy couldn't just sit around and wait. He said to Finn Holden, "No, this can't go on. I have to get her to a hospital right now."
"I'll go with you." Finn was just as anxious.
