We passed through a soaring archway of pale moonstone and stepped into a new sector of the Sunken Throne. The temperature dropped noticeably, the ambient warmth of the artificial displacement field replaced by a crisp, biting chill. The walls here weren't made of dark crystal or glowing pearl. They were forged from clear, thick deep-sea glass.
We were walking through a massive, enclosed gallery, but instead of looking out into the open water of the trench, the glass walls looked into localised, frozen chambers.
I slowed my pace, my eyes tracing the colossal shapes suspended in the ice-blue voids on either side of us.
They were skeletons.
Massive, terrifying monuments of bone and calcified cartilage, perfectly preserved in the freezing dark. Some were serpentine, stretching for hundreds of yards. Others possessed jagged, asymmetrical skulls the size of terrestrial castles.
"Trophies, Krave didn't just survive the Era of Gods. She collected the pieces of the things she outlasted."
