Chapter 22 - Interim (Connected conscious 2)

I had fallen asleep again, and here I was, back on that cold table. What was with me and not staying asleep like they want me to when this happens? Game 2 gave us a few rewards, I don't recall what I was going to get, but if anything, I gotta figure out what this place was. I opened my eyes faster this time.

I was met with a slick, pure white room, it was like a padded cell, but made of white tiles instead. And they seemed to emit light? It was pitch black last time, but they must have used this room quite a lot today, if the lights were on. I sat up, quickly. I wanted to at least get some answers from these guys. Is it too early, though? Should I wait until I get the skill that lets me understand alien languages, or at least, the one they use here. I'll have to take a listen, and say what they do later. In the off-chance it will give me the skill.

Abby popped up in the corner of my eye. "Ah, you're awake??" I nodded, shifting my head a little "Yeah, this happened last time. I think they souped me up a lot last time, probably because I was so entertaining. I might be more annoying this time around, though, so I expect one reward. It won't be a head, though, so you're stuck with me for a bit."

Abby sat behind me, and I shifted to look at her, "So, what are you gonna do? I would imagine it's not a pleasant thing to experience."

I chuckled a little, "Yeah, it's… Not very nice. I don't think it'd be that easy for you to experience, so, uh… I'll part with you for a bit, just in case you and I share the feeling of touch now."

She stood up, and waved at me, "I understand, have a nice surgery!" I waved back, laying down, and getting into a calm position, saying "Connected Conscious" a little too late as the door to the room opened and the alien voices began to fill the room. They seemed too preoccupied to notice, however. Good for me.

Soon, they did the same thing as last time, and soft devices were put over my legs. Things were activated, and my legs began to feel like mush, they seemed to be pulled thin, I couldn't place the feeling exactly, but I would imagine it was close to the feeling of bubble gum getting stretched out. It did hurt, but not like last time, it still felt really weird and uncomfortable.

I tried to keep my focus on what they were saying, as I needed to learn it to try and get some sort of access to their alien language. It was something useful to keep my mind on as my legs were formed back into place. I might need to say a full sentence, so I picked out what I figured could be it, and repeated it in my head, it felt weird to say repeatedly, and if I had to type it out.. You'd be better off trying to understand binary code.

Anyway, I was back on my way to my cell, and waited patiently for when I heard the stone moving before I opened my eyes and said the sentence to my best capability. "SLkjhed urthjemblat afeltyrun kjbml yallo."

That was as close as I could get. It was clear they do not have human voice boxes, so maybe I was being a bit wishful. Either-way, it'd be quite useful to have, if I get the skill for that, even. Anyway. I need to get a few things done now while I don't have much to do. I couldn't sleep well after last time, and it's not easier now.

I sighed, and turned on the character profile TV.

I attempted to use it earlier, and didn't find much of interest in anything but the "Class" and "Career", one was obvious, yet again, but the class was an odd inclusion. As far as I know, the system wasn't technically magical by nature. At least, as far as I can tell. Either-way, I was getting bored again, and so, I grabbed the book and continued reading it, deciding to keep Abby gone for a little bit longer.
