A woman in a pink tassel dress came over with a glass of champagne, sized Meimei up and down, and noticed not only was she dressed very plainly, even her face was unfamiliar. She was clearly not one of the well–born ladies they usually saw; the woman's expression changed on the spot.
"I wasn't deliberately eavesdropping, I was just passing by."
Meimei frowned slightly, looking at the few people who had started yelling at her the moment they came up, and explained softly.
She admitted that she'd been wrong to listen in on other people's conversation just now, but they were talking in such a public place, she had only overheard them by accident.
