In magic theory class Hope Mikaelson sat in her desk as the teacher began roll call. Everyone was present but three, ironically so the headmaster's own children. Josie, Gil and Lizzie were no where to be seen.
Outside in the hall
"Why does it always take you two so long to get ready?" Josie rushed ahead of them upset that she was running late.
"You can't rush art, and I think everyone knows my beauty is a work of art," Lizzie answered confidently and casually.
"She's right Josie, I can't ever go out looking like a bum," Gil added.
"(It's like there are three Saltzman girls…) Josie thought to herself getting ready to open the door.
"Wait, Josie. You don't have that toy car, do you, Gil?" Lizzie asked.
"…Well it helps with my anxiety…" Gil said sheepishly
"You'd have a lot less anxiety if you stopped going around looking like a blind serial killer and tried talking to people." Lizzie joked.
"You know why I can't do that!" He said defensively before Josie opened the door.
"Sorry, we're late," Josie said walking in first.
Hope watched three of her most interesting classmates enter incredibly late into the room as the teacher rushed them to find seats to continue his lecture. The family she'd spent the last couple of years getting to know. "Lizzie-the egotistical, lazy, but talented spoiled brat, who only considers herself. Josie- Lizzie's intelligent twin sister who has become content playing second fiddle to her even though she isn't inferior maybe even superior, just to keep Lizzy happy. And Gil…I've liked him for a while, maybe even more than that, but I can never tell what's going on in his head…Ugh he's so awkward. Why won't he ever make a move? Or do I have to? And why does he pretend like he has no powers? I already know he could beat just about all of our classmates.)" Hope was lost in thought when the teacher called her specifically after noticing the look she was giving Gil.
Ms. Mikaelson! Are you still with us?"
"U-uh yes! I was listening!" She jolted up knowing good and well she wasn't listening. Some of the other kids giggled seeing the teacher get on her case.
"Good you can pick up where we left off in the textbook."
"Uhh…(hmm?)" A small note appeared on her desk ever so subtly only she noticed. (Page 23- Line 7) "(Where'd this come from?)" She took a brief look around. "Ah yes, time magic, almost impossible magic only performable by the greatest of witches. It's so rare and complex some argue if it even exists. Others say the magic is just too advanced for modern witches..." As she kept reading a loud crunching sound came from the back of the class.
Trying to ignore the inferior lesson on magic, considering his treasury has among the oldest of magical tomes, Gil munched on chocolate Pocky sticks to keep from getting annoyed at the half-assed teaching. Gil already knew every flaw spoken of in the book and how to fix it but he didn't want to show his stripes to the school yet so he let it be.
"So is something wrong Mr. Saltz-" The teacher started.
"Uchiha, thank you." The name Gilgamesh Uchiha carried had a lot of weight behind it and it was one thing his innate pride wouldn't allow it to be sullied. "But no, I don't have anything to say here, just a little hungry (In truth magic has just gotten really weak over the years... it wouldn't be hard to refine these spells into actual techniques.)"
"Hey let me have one of those chocolates." A pretty girl with a short brown bob and a friendly but mischievous smile, leaned in extra close to grab one if Gil's chocolates. Both Hope and Josie were watching closely giving off clearly jealous vibes. He just handed her the box and paid as little attention to her as possible. "(Don't try to use me as a pawn in you mongrel)" Gil muttered under his breath.
"Hmm did you say something?" Leaning on his desk.
"Cut it out, Penelope! You're not making anyone jealous!" A tough-looking girl sitting in the back with her arms folded yelled out. That girl was Kelly one of the strongest werewolves in the school. She had an athletic build and a resting bitch face but the most vibrant piercing blue eyes, and long tresses of blonde hair. She had become known around school for her domineering attitude and especially keen senses, even for a werewolf. Josie and Hope gave her a thankful look and turned back around.
"Tch, whatever Kelly I'm just joking around." Penelope returned to her seat. She was a little happy to have gotten the attention of her ex with that one. "(Josie was watching…and these candies are pretty good.)"
"(She should be thankful I stopped her, pissing off Hope and Josie would be bad…but that Gil kid? There's definitely something not right about him. He's the one I'm most worried off here.)" Kelly's keen senses even sensed the horrible malice and arrogance emanating from something deep within him.
Gil noticed that she sensed he wasn't a normal boy adopted by Saltzman. The thought that she could reveal him if she wanted to bring a wave of nerves over him as he started to panic. He didn't want to be recognized as anything more than human and whatever that monkey was, is not human.
"Ahem! Are you done, children?" The teacher tried to dispel the tension, getting the class back on track. "Like the book was saying-"
"Vroom vroom" A remote control car zipped around the room.
"Gil! We talked about the car!" Lizzie yelled!"
"But my nerves are getting worse!" He cried. "What if the plan is ruined now!?
"Then just do it!" Lizzie shot back.
"But-"
"DO IT!"
"Excuse me, children, we're in the middle of a class about Magic! If there is something else you'd like to discuss you can do it in the headmaster's off-" the teacher was cut off by the pausing of time when Gil snapped his fingers.
"This is time Magic, you hack," Gil said condescendingly.
"Gil? Being the only other person unfrozen Hope turned to see Gil still moving too. "What's going on?"
Gil fidgeted his way up to Hope's desk, removing his mask and pulling his night mask into his hair and slid his hood off and grabbed her by the arms and pulled her standing, then the nerves hit but he promised and a king never lies so he spoke " Hope Lizzie and I talked and she told me I should tell you how I felt so we wouldn't waste each other's time." His bad wording put Hope on alarm out sounds as if he was going to say they were just friends.
"But id rather just show you," Gil says as he grabs her by the arch in her back and pulled her in for a deep kiss. Time was stopped in two different ways for the two, Gil nervous for the reactions Lizzie described and Hope was in utter shock Gil would go that far then she wrapped her arms around his neck and the two embraced for a while never knowing that although frozen in time Kelly remained completely aware of everything happening, the shock of time magic being real and Gil wasting it just to confess his feelings, she wanted to puke but couldn't as she held her gag she realized these two were too caught up in the moment to realize Gil's magic was fluctuating. Then Dong like a clock the spell broke only for the whole class to see Gil and Hope in a deep kiss in the middle of the classroom.
"WOAH! Was that teleportation?"
"It can't be! Look Gil's face is uncovered, and when did Hope even get up?"
The more normal students were stupefied as to what happened for there was no real explanation for how they were across the room in less than an instant making out…in the middle of class.
"Oooh, I knew it!" Lizzie clapped happily.
"Wait when were they this close?" Josie asked.
"You know they'd sneak out all the time to train, for like the last two years…It's just Gil so he never made a move."
"Oh…" Josie felt a little alienated being left out of something so obvious for so long. But she understood why, when young Gil was at his lowest she did the same to him because she feared his powers…not only that, there was that awkward time they both crushed on hope…they were just never that close. She hid her disappointment and regret, for now, to be happy for her brother. He overcame a big hurdle confessing to his crush and it went well.
"H-How did you do that the stupefied teacher asked completely forgetting that they were just making out in class. That was definitely a time-space-based spell!"
"It was my spell, I got bored of watching you blather magic nonsense, and watching this weird flirt square thing going on" Kelly covered, she could tell Gil wasn't ready to expose himself as strong…it seemed like he liked being in Hope's shadow. She gave Gil a look that said 'I want that spell and I'll keep quiet. In an instant, a gold slip appeared in her pocket. Smiling casually she simply said, "A magician never tells."
"HOPE MIKAELSON! GIL UCHIHA! Please report to the headmasters' office immediately!" A voice said over the intercom
"Oooh, you guys are already in trouble…" Lizzie said mockingly.
At the office door
After a silent walk to the office, Gil finally spoke up. "H-hey hope before we go in I have a question. "Pulling his hoody drawstrings tighter.
"Yeah what is it, Gil?"
"So are we boyfriend and girlfriend now?":
Hope just rolls here eyes "If we weren't I'd have broken your nose" she laughed as they went inside. No one saw but a brief glow came out from under his facemask as his bright joyous smile would've lit up the whole hall, then he followed her in.
Dr. Alaric Saltzman's office was like you'd expect any other prestigious dean's offices. Expensive décor, pictures of friends, students, family, and faculty, except for a massive assortment of magical items he's collected, even more books on magic, and a massive frame with a military jacket with a tiger head on the back. "Hey, Dr. Saltzman, what's up?" Hope asked casually while Gil listened in the background.
"There are two supernatural signatures that have just appeared in town, one a werewolf and the other I'm not quite sure what the other is, but it's causing quite a bit of property damage in town. He's totaling cars and the local authorities can barely slow him down.
"That sounds like way more fun than magic theory" Lizzy kicked the door open. "We want in."
"We?" Alaric looked around to see his daughters in the doorway.
"Hi(Lizzie dragged me out of class really.) Josie was tugged along tearfully.
"How did you get out of class?"
"I told the teacher we were having our-
"NOPE DON"T FINISH THAT SENTENCE!" Gil covered his ears.
"Club activities…get your head out the gutter Gil." Lizzie shook her head at him.
"Ohhhh….anyways how are we going about the mission?" Josie asked.
"You, Lizzie, and Hope will deal with the werewolf, while Gil and I will go after the other one."
"Or… Gil and I could go get the werewolf, and you three can get the other one. Think of it as a little family bonding time, and three is always better than two!" Hope proposed
"Now I'm worried about what kind of bonding time you two are after," Alaric said as both their faces flushed red. "I know about magic theory already." "G-good by Dr. Saltzman we'll be back soon." Hope rushed out.
"Good luck on your mission!" Gil wasn't much farther behind.
