Selene stared at him not knowing well if a person who held her captive was who she was to trust. The person who was giving more time and affection to some other woman after claiming to be her soulmate.
There was a strange weight in her chest, like something half-remembered trying to surface but sinking again before she could grasp it. The air between them felt colder than the room itself, as if the walls were listening.
She hummed.
It wasn't agreement. It wasn't refusal either. Just a sound that bought her time, fragile and thin as frost on glass.
