It felt like Chen's entire life was flashing before his eyes.
For a moment, he couldn't think properly. All he could see was Skyy lying beneath that zombie, his frightened face and the blood running down his arm. Something inside Chen snapped. He didn't even realize what he was doing before the wind turbines shot out from his hands with incredible force.
The blades sliced through the zombie, tearing it away from Skyy and sending the creature crashing several feet away.
"Skyy… Skyy!"
Chen rushed toward him immediately.
Skyy was trembling badly, clutching his bleeding arm against his chest as tears streamed silently down his face. He looked so frightened that Chen's own heart seemed to hurt just looking at him.
"It's… it's fine," Chen whispered, though his voice was shaking just as badly. "You're okay. It's not that bad. You're going to be fine."
He wasn't sure if he was telling Skyy that or trying to convince himself.
