Ryu looked down at the device. The smile had disappeared from his face and fear had settled into his heart. His thumb moved over the edge of the camcorder again and again, as though he were trying to gather the courage to say something. When he finally spoke, his voice was low.
"Aito... regarding what I did to you in the past, I'm really really sorry."
Aito's expression softened. "Ryu, I've told you it's okay." He didn't like the way Ryu was still beating himself up over this. He reached out and placed a hand on Ryu's knee. "You've apologised more times than I can count. You don't have to keep doing this to yourself."
Ryu shook his head as he stared at the floor. "It's not okay, Aito," he said. "Not really."
The warmth in Aito's expression faded into concern. Ryu looked as though he had been fighting with himself for a long time. He didn't like how Ryu was still affected by this. He was the victim and he was willing to put everything behind. Why couldn't Ryu?
