Mitsuna looked outside, they were about to land in a short few seconds.
Standing up with a sigh, Mitsuna stored the blanket she was using and walked down the open cargo ramp.
To the other soldiers there, sitting and waiting to properly land and disembark, as per orders, Mitsuna's actions again seemed strange.
Before anyone could comment anything, they watched her glance down at the ground and then hop off.
The drop was about 20 metres, which was barely anything.
Mitsuna landed with a soft thump as she started walking off towards the entrance of the base.
Her mind was preoccupied as she didn't pay any attention to her immediate surroundings.
The overseer of the base was there, waiting for the new soldiers to arrive. He was also next to Mitsuna, who ignored him and continued walking.
She had an annoyed expression on her face.
'Trying to act like my parent or something. Thinking she knows best just because she's old.'
Mitsuna clicked her tongue, which the overseer took as a personal insult.
Ignoring the landing zone, where the other soldiers were slowly disembarking, the overseer was following behind Mitsuna and doing his best to tell her off.
His voice landed on nothing as Mitsuna ignored any and all sound as if she was deaf.
'At least she gave one piece of actually good advice. Though I don't want to admit it.'
The overseer hastened his walking as he followed behind Mitsuna. The rest of the base, those who were resting or working outside, looked at the situation with curiosity and amusement.
Mitsuna finally reached the entrance of the base. She needed at least some degree of privacy when she made the call.
She let out a sigh as she looked towards the open sky.
From behind, the overseer was seething.
"Soldier! What outstanding arrogance! Continue playing deaf and I'll have you washing-"
He was a few good paces behind Mitsuna, but was still approaching, his threats and approach were both halted in a heartbeat.
Mitsuna called out in a neutral tone as if she spotted someone in a crowd of people.
"Esa."
Instantly, a heavy pressure descended upon the entirety of the base.
The overseer fell backwards as the soldiers who managed to move their bodies rushed towards the entrance of the base, keeping a far distance from both the overseer and Mitsuna.
They kept vigilant and held firm in their positions. For all that they knew, this could be a weapon of mass destruction that was just released upon them.
In front of Mitsuna, a palm-sized floating lady stood. Hair of grey light and colourful eyes.
Esa was about to complain over the sudden summons, but refrained due to the expression stuck to Mitsuna's face.
The tiny fairy gave a polite bow.
"You called, mistress?"
"I have an order for you, Esa."
Mitsuna analysed Esa as she spoke to her, noticing that her level was...
'Insane growth. She was level 344 the last time we met.'

At the same time, Esa thought to herself as she glanced up at Mitsuna, 'What kind of anomalous monster is she? To achieve such growth in such a short time...'
Lowering her gaze as she continued to bow her head, Esa didn't want to come off as rude as she received her first proper task.
"Raise your head. I'll break it down for you."
Esa obliged as the two made eye contact.
"Your order?"
"I won't stop you from regaining your strength, but while you do so I need you to find any possible clues you can about a beastkin named Natash."
As Mitsuna explained in detail what Esa should look for, when and if she can, Esa turned her gaze slightly to the side.
She watched the soldiers and overseer standing behind Mitsuna, almost ready to fully attack the unknown entity.
With little effort, Esa applied weight to her gaze, forcing them to fall to their knees.
"Esa."
Her gaze snapped back towards Mitsuna, who called out her name with almost a hint of annoyance.
"Listen when I am speaking to you."
Esa looked Mitsuna in her eyes. Those eyes held a weight of their own.
Esa bowed her head as she felt 'This unexplainable... fear?' as she called it.
Esa didn't want to come off as insubordinate, or uncooperative. Even less so did she want to see this specific expression on Mitsuna's face as she looked at her.
It was extremely uncomfortable to stand in front of such a gaze, even when she knew that she could theoretically win in a battle.
Esa came up eith a small excuse as she apologised.
"My apologies, mistress. I didn't want the ones at the back to interfere."
"It's fine. Just find the person I described. Oh, and don't even think about killing her. Immediately report back the moment she is found, I will bleed that thing out myself."
"Yes, I understand."
"That's all. I'll be searching through the West as I am already here so your search here won't have to be extensive."
"As you command."
Mitsuna turned away from Esa and began walking off before letting out a sigh and turning her head to look back at her.
"See you later then, Esa. Safe travels."
"To you as well, enjoy the war."
"I'll try."
With that, Esa was gone.
Mitsuna walked up to the overseer who was standing there, his legs still shaking.
"You tried to say something to me before, right? I was in the middle of making a personal call so I didn't quite catch what you said."
Mitsuna spoke as she looked up at his face.
"Well? Was I supposed to report something or clean some place?"
She asked with a sarcastic undertone as the overseer took a deep breath before fixing up his coat.
"Along with the other soldiers who arrived, for the time being wait in your assigned tents for orders. The tents are at the North-East corner of the base camp. Additionally, you may only leave the base when following orders or when receiving direct permission."
The overseer hesitated for a second before adding.
"Don't do it again."
Mitsuna was silent for a second.
'I was in a rather bad mood so I guess I was kind of an inconvenience. Especially calling that monster Esa here. She probably scared the people here half to death and half to piss themselves.'
"I understand. If I need to make another call, I will ask permission."
The overseer stopped himself from letting out a deep sigh of relief.
"Good, then you are dismissed. You are free to wander the base, soldier."
The overseer walked off with brisk steps, heading towards the toilets on the side of the base.
Mitsuna turned away as well, leisurely walking off to find the tents that were assigned to her and the other soldiers who came along with her.
