Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Mysterious Visitor

"How will you ever get into a good academy with grades like these huh Piolo?!" A shout that rivals a dragon came from the mouth of Piolo's own mother holding his report card. "Jeez ma, like it ain't even that seriou-" Before he can even finish his sentence a ladle flew at lightspeed right at Piolo's forehead, knocking him down from where he was seating, leaving a circular red bruise.

"Ow! H-hey stop it!" Piolo could only dodge whatever thing that his mother can throw near her. Good thing he was pretty athletic, but that didn't stop his mother's rage. He retreated to his room before the whole house was thrown at him.

"Haaah... Bailey, what should I even do with your brother?" His mother sighs, pinching at the bridge of her nose, clearly frustrated.

The youngest of the family Bailey, who seemingly looked desensitized with the chaos in the family and was picking up what was thrown said "Just let him be ma, he's been like that forever."

"Yeah I know, but it wouldn't hurt for him to try right?" Her mother replied, helping pick up what she threw.

Back at Piolo's room, he was talking to his friends while playing video games on his pc. "Bro what would you even do after you awaken." Slick, Piolo's childhood friend asked him. "I don't know man, apply to an academy I guess. I hope its something good." Piolo replies.

"Oh you're almost 18 right? In what, like a day from now? Advance congrats ma- Wait wait the tower, our base nooooo!" Slick howled at the mic so loud that it peaked a few times as both of them with a big defeat sign on their screen. "Well that's one way to end the night, I'm out. Sorry 'bout that lost on a rank up lol." Piolo said as both of them exchanged goodbyes.

He threw himself at his bed. One more day till I awaken huh he thought. Hope it's something at least... Piolo eventually drifts off to sleep.

It wasn't long before Piolo hears something in his sleep.

"Wake up Piolo."

Piolo heard an unfamiliar robotic female voice. He tries ignoring it, thinking it might go away.

"Wake up or I'll smack you if you don't."

"W-what the fu-" A sleeping talking Piolo was met with a slap to his face, waking him up pretty good. "Finally, I tire of waiting for you to wake up Piolo." A high pitched female voice said to him. Piolo tried to look around for the source of the sound but to no avail did he find it "Am I going crazy or what?"

"You're not going crazy Piolo, and you can't see me yet. You need to awaken first." the voice said to him as Piolo was looking around. "Who are you? What even are you?" Piolo, understandably confused and distressed from the talking voice that he can't find, asks. The voice laughs at the confused Piolo. "You don't need to know who I am just yet Piolo. However, there are somethings that you must know."

"Okay... and what's that?" Suspicious as it was for Piolo, he still asks as his curiosity outweighs the concern in his mind of a random talking voice suddenly appearing. "First you must enter the top ranked academy in the world, Crystal Academy." Before the voice can continue, Piolo interrupts "Crystal Academy? With my grades? that's seemingly impossible. I don't even know if I have connections to get enrolled their."

"That won't be a problem, you'll see." The voice interjects. "Now can I continue?"

Piolo still with a hint of suspiciousness could only shake his head in agreeance.

"Secondly, look through your dad's old cardboard boxes in your attic. There should be a ring with a blue stone." Piolo baffled by that statement was left stunned. "My dad has something like that? Didn't he just have a normal work day job at a company somewhere?" Piolo asks the voice.

"Your father's job... it wasn't as simple as it seems. You don't have to worry about that for now." The voice said replying to Piolo who still can't rack up his mind that his dad, that disappeared all those years ago when he was still a child, hid something like that from his family.

What's with the ring with a blue stone? Oddly specific. Piolo thought. "Okay, is that all?" He asks.

"One last thing Piolo. Never, and I say this with utmost seriousness, go over 100%." The voice says seemingly concerned.

Piolo dumbfounded asks, "100%? What does that even mean?"

"When you awaken you'll know." The voice answers cryptically.

Becoming more frustrated with how much the voice answers ambiguously he asks, "Why the hell are you even here and why do you keep hiding things from me?! And how do you even know my name, what my father does and everything?!"

"Cool your jets Piolo." The voice answers, unfazed by his outburst. "If you must know who I am, I am a creation of your father. My name is Qiqi and I was programmed to be sent to you a a day before your awakening. I was sent here to help you settle after you awaken." The voice stops for a moment to gauge Piolo's reaction, only to find him utterly stunned with his mouth wide open. "Quite a revelation isn't it? Your father was a very bright man, he knew that you would awaken something so powerful that he created me for it. How would he know that? Even I don't know the inner workings of your father's mind."

"Wait wait wait." Piolo speaks, breaking from the spell of confusion. "So you're telling me is that I have t-this latent power within me, that my father seemingly knew about when I was a child and, and that to him this power would be so unstable that he created you just for it?

"I'm surprised you understand it that well." Qiqi answers him with a little laugh. "Oh stop laughing. This... this is like some life changing thing you're dropping at me" Piolo retorts.

"And that is precisely why I'm not dropping every single thing on you today Piolo. In due time you'll learn more, more than me perhaps." Qiqi's remark to Piolo seemingly removed the sense of doubt that hanged from his head.

"Okay, but what's the purpose of all these then? Why tell me appear now and info-dump me in the middle of the night?" Piolo, with his head more cleared up now, asks.

Qiqi seemed hesitant to answer Piolo, she took a moment before finally answering

"All of this is because of your father's calculations. He calculated that in 7 years time... the end of the world would commence." And yet again Piolo is stunned by Qiqi's revelation.

"Huh?" Was the only thing he could mutter.
