Chapter 47 - The Silent Defense

The Seeker stepped into the valley.

The moment its foot touched the stone ground—

The entire valley reacted.

The soft mist that once floated peacefully began to shift, rising higher, forming a thin barrier around the valley's edges.

The lantern lights flickered… then steadied.

Every member of the Circle of Silence stood in place.

Not rushing.

Not attacking.

Waiting.

The Seeker tilted its head slightly.

"Unregistered resistance detected."

Its voice echoed unnaturally across the valley.

Feroz stepped out of the building beside the old man.

For the first time since it appeared—

The Seeker stopped moving.

Its glowing eyes locked onto him.

"Key confirmed."

The ground beneath Feroz trembled faintly.

The mark on his arm burned again.

But this time—

He didn't step back.

The old man raised his hand slightly.

No words.

Just a signal.

At once—

The symbols carved into the valley floor began to glow.

Soft golden lines spread outward like veins, connecting every stone structure, every path, every corner of the valley.

Feroz felt it.

A calm energy.

Steady.

Controlled.

Nothing like the chaos he had felt before.

"What is this?" he asked quietly.

The old man's voice remained calm.

"This valley was not built to hide."

The golden light intensified.

"It was built to stand."

The Seeker took another step forward.

The ground beneath it darkened instantly, clashing against the golden light.

Two forces.

Opposite.

Colliding.

"Obstacle irrelevant," the Seeker said.

It raised its long arm.

Blue energy gathered around it like smoke.

Feroz's chest tightened.

He remembered what that attack could do.

"Stay behind me," the old man said.

Feroz shook his head.

"No."

The old man looked at him.

"You are not ready for this."

Feroz stepped forward anyway.

"Then I'll become ready."

The mark on his arm began to glow again.

But something was different.

The golden light from the valley didn't fight his power.

It supported it.

Balanced it.

For the first time—

The burning didn't feel like it would tear him apart.

The Seeker released its attack.

A wave of blue energy surged forward.

But before it could reach Feroz—

The golden symbols rose from the ground like a wall.

The attack hit—

And split.

Half of it dissolved.

Half of it scattered into the air.

Feroz stared.

"It blocked it…"

The old man spoke quietly.

"No."

Feroz looked at him.

"It balanced it."

The Seeker paused.

For the first time—

It did not move immediately.

Its head tilted slightly.

"Unexpected resistance level."

Its eyes shifted between Feroz and the old man.

"Recalibrating."

Feroz clenched his fist.

"This thing doesn't stop, does it?"

The old man shook his head.

"No."

The Seeker moved again.

This time—

Faster.

It crossed half the distance in a single step.

The ground cracked beneath it.

Feroz reacted instantly.

He stepped forward.

The golden lines beneath his feet surged upward, wrapping lightly around his arm.

Not restricting.

Guiding.

He raised his hand—

And released a controlled pulse.

Not wild.

Not explosive.

Focused.

The energy struck the Seeker directly.

For the first time—

It staggered.

Just one step.

But enough.

Feroz's eyes widened.

"I… I pushed it back."

The old man watched closely.

"You didn't overpower it."

Feroz looked at him.

"You redirected it."

The Seeker steadied itself.

Its glowing eyes flickered.

"Key adaptation increasing."

Its voice became colder.

"Threat level revised."

The air grew heavier.

The Seeker's body began to glow brighter.

More unstable.

More dangerous.

The old man's expression darkened.

"It's evolving."

Feroz felt it too.

The pressure in the air increased.

The valley lights flickered.

The balance was shifting.

Suddenly—

A voice echoed from the far edge of the valley.

Calm.

Sharp.

And completely unexpected.

"Still relying on force…"

Everyone turned.

Even the Seeker paused.

From the mist at the edge of the valley—

A man stepped forward.

Tall.

Wearing a long coat worn by years of travel.

Grey hair.

Calm eyes.

But those eyes carried something dangerous.

Recognition.

The old man's expression changed immediately.

"You…" he said under his breath.

Feroz looked between them.

"Who is that?"

The old man's voice lowered.

"A ghost the Free Masons have been chasing for decades."

The man walked forward slowly.

Unafraid.

Unhurried.

The Seeker turned fully toward him.

"Target… unidentified."

The man smiled faintly.

"Of course I am."

He stopped a few steps away.

His eyes moved from the Seeker…

To Feroz.

For a brief second—

They locked.

And something in Feroz's chest shifted.

Like recognition he couldn't explain.

The man spoke again.

"After all these years…"

He looked at Feroz carefully.

"…they finally found you."

Feroz felt his pulse rise.

"Who are you?"

The man didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he glanced at the Seeker.

Then back at Feroz.

And said calmly—

"The man who chose to become their enemy."

The Seeker's glow intensified.

"Hostile entity confirmed."

The man let out a small breath.

"Good."

He took one step forward.

And the air around him changed.

Not like the Seeker.

Not like Feroz.

Something older.

Controlled.

Dangerous.

The old man whispered—

"This shouldn't be happening yet…"

Feroz's voice came out low.

"What shouldn't?"

The old man didn't look at him.

"His return."

The grey-haired man finally spoke his next words—

And the entire valley seemed to listen.

"The angels have moved too soon."

His eyes darkened slightly.

"So the devil has awakened early."

Feroz froze.

The Seeker moved.

The valley tensed.

And the war that had been hidden for decades—

Had just stepped into the open.
