Her eyelids twitched, and she stopped in her tracks.
She walked around the area until something tripped her.
She looked down. Amidst a patch of overgrown weeds, a piece of iron was embedded in the ground, completely covered in mud.
She bent down to take a closer look. It wasn't until she saw a hexagonal groove on the piece of iron that Su Ye was finally certain: this was the place where her mother's dowry was hidden.
'Why is this thing buried underground?'
She inserted the hexagonal key into the iron plate and twisted it forcefully.
CLICK! The iron plate opened.
Instantly, a pale green light flashed from the ground.
Su Ye was surprised.
"This is a seal?"
She reached out, gripped the lock, and pulled upward with all her might. The sound of shifting dirt was accompanied by the long-unheard CREAK of something ancient.
A square opening, about the size of a manhole cover, appeared.
Su Ye peered into the pitch-black darkness below and thought for a moment.
