'Repaying a debt? It's nothing more than a ploy to latch onto him, to climb the social ladder and become a Phoenix.'
'Does she really take him for a fool?'
'How ridiculous.'
Chu Huan averted his gaze, looking away.
Xue Rong walked over to Nan Hua's side, blinked her eyes, and reached out to grab his arm.
Nan Hua's steps faltered for a moment. He turned his head to look at her.
Xue Rong's face broke into a wide smile. "I thought I'd never see you again. What a coincidence."
Nan Hua didn't answer. His lifeless, emotionless eyes stared at Xue Rong as he slowly raised a hand.
He pressed his hand against her forehead and pushed her away.
Xue Rong was stunned by the push, but then she quietly walked back and grabbed Nan Hua's arm once more.
Then she spoke, "What's your name? I'm Xue Rong, but you can call me Rong'er."
Although Xue Rong wasn't her real name, Rong'er truly was.
She was so happy she felt like wagging her tail.
