Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: The Room Is Ready

The very moment he entered the main living room, he saw his wife's furious, trembling expression and his beloved adoptive daughter standing right beside her, gently comforting her. He then turned his sharp attention to Qiao Meixia, who remained standing nearby, expressionless as always.

"Dad, Sister Meixia actually dared to curse Mom just now and openly wish for her death!" Jiang Yanna spoke up immediately, twisting the truth of the conversation without a single shred of hesitation.

Hearing those alarming words, Jiang Lukang's expression darkened instantly into a thundercloud. He stepped forward, turning his heavy, overbearing gaze directly onto Qiao Meixia.

"Qiao Meixia, how dare you be so insolent!" Jiang Lukang roared, his voice booming with patriarchal authority.

Qiao Meixia looked at the three of them with a cold, scrutinising gaze, observing the way they seamlessly aligned against her. At that exact moment, she seriously and practically began considering the logistics of moving out of the estate entirely. She had only lived in this chaotic house for three short days, yet she already felt incredibly exhausted by everything happening around her.

"Speak!" Jiang Lukang roared again, incensed by her lack of fear.

Qiao Meixia stared at his angry face for a quiet moment before letting out a soft, tired sigh.

"Since you have all already decided to believe that I cursed her, then fine. Just assume that I did." Qiao Meixia said, casually shrugging her shoulders.

Then, she turned around completely and continued walking directly toward the grand main entrance of the mansion.

"Qiao Meixia, where do you think you are going?!" Jiang Lukang demanded immediately.

A sudden, underlying trace of panic appeared in his voice when he saw her walking away so decisively. After all, if she walked out now, his plans for her would be ruined. Yet, Qiao Meixia did not stop walking, her footsteps steady and unhurried.

"It seems your family simply cannot tolerate my existence. In that case, I should leave this house and never come back." Qiao Meixia's voice drifted back to them, remaining completely calm and indifferent. "That would probably be the best decision for all of us."

"Stop right there! You don't have to go anywhere. You are the biological daughter of this family." Jiang Lukang shouted, raising his voice to firmly stop Qiao Meixia from walking out the front doors.

He then turned sharply toward Feng Lan and glared at her with intense, warning eyes. The sheer coldness of that single look alone was enough to make Feng Lan flinch and immediately avert her eyes in submission, realising she had pushed things too far in front of him.

"Your mother was just being overly emotional and sensitive just now. You should not take her thoughtless words to heart." Jiang Lukang said, quickly smoothing over the tension as he turned his attention back to Qiao Meixia.

As if suddenly remembering something important, he reached into his jacket, pulled out his phone, and tapped on the screen a few times with practised ease.

"I have just transferred one million directly into your bank account. Consider it proper compensation from me for the unfortunate incident that happened to your laptop yesterday." Jiang Lukang stated calmly, turning the screen around to show her the successful transfer record.

Without waiting for Qiao Meixia's actual response or giving her a chance to refuse, Jiang Lukang immediately turned his head toward the head of the household staff.

"Jun Xin, has her original bedroom been completely repaired and restored yet?" Jiang Lukang questioned firmly.

"Yes, Master. Everything has been fully taken care of." Butler Jun replied with a respectful nod, stepping forward from the shadows of the hallway.

"Good. Take her up to her room immediately." Jiang Lukang instructed, waving his hand to dismiss the matter.

"Yes, Master." Butler Jun bowed deeply and respectfully. His professional gaze then shifted smoothly toward Qiao Meixia. "Miss Qiao, your room is finally ready for you. You may move your belongings back in from now on."
