Third person POV
"Wait, what???" Masayuki was confused.
"You're Rin-chan's sister?" Tohru gasped.
Yuki asked the same thing.
"Well, yeah, I was," replied Souya with a tone of admitting, "years ago, I ran away from home, and I ended up with the Aikawas all this time. Back then, I was Hana Sohma, younger sister of Isuzu Sohma, and now, I had been donning the identity known as Souya Aikawa."
They couldn't believe their ears, while Rin now remembered the time her younger sister made a promise that they will meet up again after she ran away in the middle of the night.
"I…I remember now…" she muttered, and the others looked at her, "…my younger sister, Hana, ran away because my parents loved her more than me…"
She looked at Souya. "It was you, Hana, right?"
With a grin, Souya replied, "That's me, y'all."
"Your hair looks different…"
"Oh, I dyed my hair yellow when I was in middle school…"
"Oh…"
"And I claimed to be a Filipino Japanese to keep my head down."
Rin and others were stunned at her cleverness of concealing her true identity.
Masayuki and Emiko, being childhood friends of Souya, were in awe because Souya had been burying her past and adapted a new identity all this time.
Later that day, however, was a trial for both Souya and Rin. Rin was on Tohru's bed, and after her parents hated her and left her, they looked at Souya, who was so, so cold and angry for their favoritism for her instead of treating her and Rin as equals. Hatsuharu and Masayuki was upset at this. But, when the couple wanted to take her back, Souya angrily slapped her mother's hand. "Don't touch me, bastards!"
The atmosphere changed in just seconds.
"Hana, we wanted you to come home with us…" the father said with a tone of pleading.
"I'm not Hana!" Souya burst out in anger. "I hated both of you for hating Rin-chan!"
The couple was shocked at her rebellion.
"I had to run away just to avoid being a 'golden child' to you two!" Souya ranted out more and more. "I am better off with a new family who considered all kids as equals regardless of being related by blood or not! I hated you two! You two are no parents when you treat kids like that! Get lost! GET LOST!!!"
The atmosphere changed again, and the mother was tearing up because Souya, formerly Hana, now hated her and her husband, as if Souya had disowned them (not really).
And so, as others watched the scene and Tohru comforting Rin in front yard of Shigure's home, the couple left off with tears of being heartbroken.
After that, Souya cried against them, falling on her knees in the hallway. "I hate them…I hate them…"
After doing an intercessory prayer, Masayuki reached out to her and gave comfort to her.
Souya passed the trial of resisting favoritism.
