These cameagles were created to observe their targets for long periods of time. Once they find a target, they will do everything in their power to follow it, no matter the danger. Created by someone with the initial 'D', who chose to remain anonymous.
For now, this should serve the purpose I need.
I decided to use iron and black iron ore to make them. I waited until Torva finished Martimer's armor, then took over the smithy for a bit and made five. The only bad thing about them is that the only stat they can increase by leveling is health. That's countered by the fact that they level through observing.
I sent Agnus a message asking for his location, then sent one cameagle there, to follow him and possibly observe any NPCs that would make good golems. I sent another to observe Grid, since I have a feeling some players will do everything they can to recruit a legendary class. The last three I kept on standby, following me, until I found targets I wanted.
I don't think it's a good idea to send them where any of the seven guilds stay. Ares is a no-go. I don't know where Kraugel is, but I'll keep checking online for updates on his location. And right now, I don't have enough information on the top players.
Once Martimer, Torva and I were outfitted in some mostly normal-rated equipment, apart from Martimer's sword and Torva's armor, we were ready. I decided to use a bow for now, since it would be over if I went down, while Torva and Martimer can tank just fine with their far better stats. Torva also equipped a rare greatsword, because, in her words, "It felt right."
We headed out to hunt nearby mobs for a while, mostly boars, wolves and rabbits. Martimer couldn't find anything worth absorbing or turning into undead. She said the ideal would be humanoid creatures or powerful monsters. I could have had her make undead from these weaker mobs, but that wouldn't be smart, since she can only make a limited number at her current class rating.
While we were mindlessly farming, I checked on Grid to see if he'd learned any new skills. My cameagle was in a smithy, and Grid was working on some arrows. I didn't know why arrows specifically, since I'd never seen an arrow above normal rating, but I kept an eye on him just in case.
After a while of quenching and smelting, he finished around 100 arrows. His eyes widened in surprise, so I observed the arrows myself through the cameagle.
[Special Jaffa Arrow]
Rating: Epic
Attack Power: 35–42
An arrow made by a craftsman with great skill and potential, but lacking experience and reputation. Combining jaffa with steel gives it extremely high penetration that ignores some of the enemy's defense.
Has a certain chance of ignoring the enemy's defense.
Weight: 0.1
"Hold on. EPIC-RATED CONSUMABLES?!"
I said that out loud just as Torva was finishing off a wolf. Both my companions paused in surprise, then went right back to aggroing and fighting dire wolves while I kept watching.
Since when could consumables be rated higher than normal? This discovery is absurd! I should have Torva start making arrows. She'll need to disassemble and reassemble some to learn how, just like Grid did, but it'll be worth it if I can get more powerful arrows.
She probably won't make epic arrows anytime soon, but even rare would be fine. Heck, even normal would be fine, since she raises all stats by 4%.
After that little debacle, I heard noises in the distance and realized we'd come very far from the hideout. We were near people raiding the Guardian of the Forest. Off in the distance, I could see the Tzedakah guild finishing off the boss.
Looks like I'd found a few ideal targets to observe.
I sent one cameagle to observe Jishuka, the guild leader, for her amazing skill with the bow. I sent another to follow Faker, who I only managed to catch a glimpse of behind the guild members. I held on to the last one for now. Then I decided we should head into town, since I wanted to bid on those arrows.
I had Torva and Martimer put on cloaks to cover their bodies, along with the custom masks I'd had made. I wore the same. I wanted us to pass as NPCs, since the masks hide our names.
When we got to the auction house, Jishuka had already bid 35 silver. I gave up on the arrows after that, since the bidding climbed very quickly. I could just have Torva make arrows between weapons and armor.
I looked through the auction for good blacksmithing materials. I bought up everything needed to make jaffa arrows, from the auction and the nearby smithy, before the prices went up. I also bought a ton of ore for weapons, armor, sheaths and the like.
Afterward, I equipped a woodcutter's axe and started chopping wood for the smithy, bows and arrows. I was getting much better at multitasking, since I was chopping wood, giving commands to Torva and Martimer, and observing Jishuka and Faker all at once.
I sent Torva back to base with all the materials so she could keep developing her smithing, and let Martimer keep hunting solo. My level rose steadily thanks to the two of them. While chopping wood, I used Golem Understanding on Jishuka.
[Scanning target....]
[The target has a normal-rated class that has developed to a good extent. Because of this, golems created from it will receive the same skills as the target by leveling up. However, they can follow the same path as the observed user or a different one. Would you like to use Golem Understanding to create a golem production method from the user 'Jishuka'? Please note that if the user develops further after this point, the golems created may or may not receive the same skills or class progression.]
Looks like this one doesn't limit how many golems I can make. I finally have a production method I can grind, to make higher-rated golems and maybe upgrade my class over time. I'll have to adjust their appearance a bit when I start making them, so they don't look like her. Eh, that shouldn't be too difficult.
"Yes."
[The user 'Daz' has chosen to use Golem Understanding on the user 'Jishuka'. A production method for a normal humanoid golem with the normal class 'Archer' will be obtained. It will take a full 3 hours and 30 minutes of observation. Do you wish to proceed?]
"Yes."
Once the timer started, I kept chopping wood while observing her. Jishuka seemed to be searching for Grid. She had a very crazed look in her eyes as she pulled out the jaffa arrows she'd won at the auction. I didn't really care which guild Grid joined, as long as he kept growing.
I also found out that Torva could grow in her class on her own, but not until it reached at least unique rating. Right now I needed to focus on raising my own rating, so she could get to unique without being held back by me.
I took a break from chopping and headed back to the hideout with Martimer. She'd reached level 50, and I'd reached level 20. Nothing special happened beyond an increase in stats.
When we got back, I heard a hammer hitting an anvil, so I let Torva be and headed deeper into the cave. I decided to start expanding it, so I equipped a pickaxe and went to work, still keeping an eye on Jishuka. She was searching Winston, the village at the end of this forest, for any clue about Grid. After a few hours of mining, I got the production method for the archer golem.
I decided to take a break. I had Martimer either hunt solo near the cave or mine out some more, and I logged out.
When I stepped out of my capsule, I took a moment to stretch and relax my body before heading down my long staircase to the first floor. I cooked myself steak, mashed potatoes and broccoli while browsing the Satisfy forums.
All the buzz was about the top seven guilds and how 'awesome' they were. I looked up information on Kraugel, hoping to find where in Satisfy he was so I could send a cameagle to observe him. It was all dead ends. I'd have to wait until he made a public appearance or someone attracted his attention. The main reason I knew about him at all was that Agnus had run into him once.
The house was quiet while I ate. It's always quiet. Jane used to leave the TV on in the kitchen just for the noise, and I've never been able to bring myself to do it.
After eating and showering, I got back into my capsule and logged in. When I took in my surroundings, the end of the cave was slightly larger than before. Martimer was still mining, so I didn't stop her. Torva was still working too, with a few swords and bows on a rack beside her.
I realized I needed to expand my workshop or turn another part of the hideout into a second one. I'd probably go with the second option.
Welp. Time for some manual labor. I rolled up my non-existent sleeves and got to work mining out another area.
