I was eating outside the game and checking my laptop when I saw the forums going crazy over the possibility of two people who could make legendary items.
Of course, if I chose that particular aspect with my skill, I could reach their level at blacksmithing too. I'll leave that to Torva, though. She has her own pride when it comes to the forge. Unless she asks me to forge something, I'll only use it for that.
Time went by, and soon a few places were attacked by the Yatan church. Honestly, I didn't pay the attacks much mind, since they didn't affect me in any way. Besides, Grid's guild could deal with it, no problem.
It also turns out I'm excluded from this year's national competition. The creators of Satisfy want to save my kingdom for an event, or a new episode of some kind. At least, that's what I understood when they contacted me.
That's right. The creators of the game contacted me. It was absurd.
The call came through the capsule's system channel, on a line I didn't know existed. A very polite woman from the S.A. Group asked whether I had a few minutes. Then a much less polite lawyer asked whether I had a few hours.
They asked me not to interact with players as much as possible, unless someone discovered the kingdom. I'd still have to go out occasionally for rare quest opportunities.
What came of it was a contract that pays me a large amount of money every year. I read every page twice. I've lived through enough lawyers to know that much.
There was one more thing I bargained for, in exchange for signing: an extra amount of Machina. Enough to make a whole golem.
The lawyer asked why I wanted it. I told him it was personal. He wrote that down like it was a legal term.
Once that was settled, I logged back into Satisfy and got back to work on golems.
From what I could tell, Grid was after a boss named Hell Gao on Cokro Island, and Kraugel was about to become a White Swordsman. I didn't know much about that class, but I figured I could make golems with it once he had it.
I also wanted to try making demon golems. Speaking of demons, I could try my hand at other supernatural creatures too: angels, yokai, vampires and more. I'd want to see what they look like in the game first, though, before I made any.
The Machina had been sitting in reserve for a while, ever since Torva made the four weapons. I wasn't going to touch the new Machina until my class reached legendary. That had been my driving goal ever since I first made it.
Torva had wanted to wait until she was legendary too. Now that she was, she started using it to remake the weapons she'd made for us. She shut herself away for days and reforged all four from the original stock.
When she came out, she handed Juliet her sword first, then Fenrir, then me my bow. She kept her greatsword on her back the whole time, like it had always been there.
I went out into the city to greet everyone, and took a casual walk with Juliet and Fenrir. It was nice and calming to not be holed up in my own chambers for once.
I greeted as many golems as I could that day. The farming golem sang me a song about turnips. Zuriel showed me a bridge he was very proud of and wanted me to jump on. I jumped on it. It held. He cried a little. I even visited some of the dungeons with golems in them, to see how they were doing.
Overall, I felt more relaxed that day.
Time flew. While everyone else was focused on the national competition, I was still in Satisfy managing my city. The competition was cool and seemed very successful. I was told I could take part next year, though nobody would tell me in what capacity.
I watched it in the game while working on other things. I wanted a bunch of the classes shown off there, especially the one Hurent from the U.S. showed. A golem with the aura master class would be interesting.
Pets and familiars were cool, but not that interesting to me. I'd already made a huge variety of animal, monster and mythical creature golems. I'd tried to make dragons before too, but they always came out as drakes. I figure I'm missing some key component, or some important piece of information, to make them into actual dragons.
I also finally got Euphemina's class as a golem blueprint, since my class is unique now and the level gap no longer matters.
I could only make two. Her class turned out to be called Duplicator. It lets her duplicate skills, but once a duplicated skill is used, it's deleted. The reason I thought the class would be very strong despite that is that the downside disappears completely if someone crafts a high-quality orb for them. Orbs can permanently store a certain number of spells, depending on their quality.
Torva already had a few orb recipes from the dungeons around us. I wanted her to make the orb from the recipe Euphemina had found, though.
So I tried something, and it half worked. While looking at the blueprint through my cameagle, I copied it down by hand on paper inside the game.
I could only copy part of it, because it turned out to be a legendary blueprint. So I made a somewhat unorthodox type of golem: a Scribe golem. I made as many as I could, then used my skill to take all of their combined skill. With that, I copied the blueprint and passed it to Torva.
I also made the two Duplicator golems. Both came out epic. I still hadn't managed to make a new unique golem with a unique class.
Now that I could copy blueprints, I made sure to keep a close eye on all my targets, especially Kraugel. From what I could tell, he was about to attempt a place called the Behen Archipelago.
It's crazy to think it's already been two years since I started playing Satisfy, and how far I've come. I still have so much to do.
More time passed. Grid formed a new guild, the Overgeared guild. Kraugel was attempting the archipelago. Agnus was still on his deadly serious quest to bring 'her' back in this game, looking insane to his followers the whole time. And the Golem Kingdom stayed the same.
That night, I sat down to work on one more golem. It wasn't anything special. I'd been thinking a lot lately about the golems that wander the forest on their own: the natural ones, the ones nobody made, the ones that showed up in growing numbers once the kingdom rose. Who looks after those?
I started sculpting a shepherd.
I didn't know yet that I would finish her at the exact moment another kingdom was being attacked by golems.
