I was supposed to fly back to Manila the next day but I asked Stella if I could rebook my flight at the earliest possible. I didn’t want to spend any more time in this city. There was nothing else to do, after all.
There was no getting back together. No “I missed you” kisses, no spending the night with her. I crumpled all the ideal scenarios I made up in my head for the past three months and threw them out of the window.
So, what now?
I was wandering in the airport, walking. Just walking. I couldn’t sit still—there weren’t many available lounges here to begin with—so moving was all I could do.
I kept looking at the phone in my hand, reading Stella’s messages again and again as if I hadn’t memorized them yet.
