Gou Feng eyes widened in disbelief.
He had expected a short trip, somewhere nearby for the day.
He certainly hadn't expected to leave the city altogether.
"...We're going away for that long?"
Hei Bao simply nodded.
"For a while. There are a few matters I need to handle outside the city. And you'll be safer there."
Safer.
That single word answered more questions than any lengthy explanation could have.
Gou Feng fell silent.
So this wasn't a vacation after all.
Hei Bao was moving him somewhere beyond the reach of whatever danger was closing in around them.
He lowered his eyes to the untouched breakfast in front of him before quietly nodding.
"...Understood."
But even as he said it. One question continued to linger in the back of his mind.
Where exactly are we going?
And more importantly. What kind of place would make even Hei Bao believe it was safer than the Bao Estate?
Hei Bao turned and headed toward the stairs.
"Be ready in an hour."
