Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Aftermath

Chapter 5: Aftermath

Author: Geraint

(MC's POV)

Nighttime,

After being examined by the medical team, they said there's nothing wrong with me. My body is fine—just a small splinter of wood stuck in my index finger, which they already took care of.

I was interviewed and scolded by the adults for not evacuating the building during the chaos in the city. I told them I was surrounded by villains and hid under a table. They accepted that explanation.

They gave me a snack and a small carton of milk, then let me rest inside the police car while preparing to send me home.

It was very uncomfortable, mostly because people outside were mourning my death in front of the destroyed building... even though I was chilling inside the car.

The police officer got into the car, and just as he was about to start it—

Ring! Ring!

His phone rang. He answered the call.

Murmur... Murmur...

"What?!"

Startled by his shout, I spilled milk all over my clothes.

"What do you mean he escaped?!"

Escaped? Who?

Murmur... Murmur...

"Wasn't that guy surrounded by top pro heroes?! How did this happen?!"

I had a really bad feeling about this...

"They've all been hospitalized and are in critical condition?! Just what kind of monster did Captain Falcon fight in exchange for his life?!"

So All for One is still alive. And he escaped just like that.

Where's All Might? Shouldn't he have been guarding him?

I must've fought him too early... I should've taken care of his subordinates first.

While the officer was still on the call—

"Excuse me, mister. Can I go to the bathroom?"

He waved his hand to signal yes. I opened the door and stepped outside.

I couldn't stay here any longer—I had to get back home, or the orphanage caretaker would kill me.

Sneaking away, I looked around for my bicycle.

"Oh, there it is!"

I spotted it parked in front of a shop.

Just as I reached it—

"Hey, kid! Where are you going?"

I turned around slowly, sweat dripping down my face.

Standing behind me was Mirko.

"Nee-san, did you need something?"

"Wait! A pink-haired boy? Aren't you the kid All Might saved from the destroyed building?!"

"Yeah... that was me."

She suddenly grabbed me with her muscular arms and picked me up.

"Hey!"

"It's already dark! Kids shouldn't be out alone."

"Wait! I'm already heading home! Let me go!"

I struggled, but she was way too strong.

"Alone?"

"Yes... I can go alone."

...

"Nope! I'm bringing you back to the police!"

This is bad! I got caught!

And she's not even listening to me!

While being carried like a sack—

I took a deep breath.

"Huh?"

I tried to break free from her grip.

She grinned.

"Oh? Not bad, kid! But how about this—"

She pinned me tightly with both arms.

"Hmmmp!"

My face got squished between her... very large chest.

I was having trouble breathing.

I guess I had no choice but to use that technique.

I stopped struggling and went limp.

"Ah!"

She was surprised and shook me.

"Hey! Are you okay?! Don't tell me—"

When she loosened her grip to check on me—

Finally!

I pushed her away.

Boing!

"Huh?"

My hand had moved on its own and was... groping her chest.

We locked eyes.

...

Swoosh!

I immediately jumped away, dodging her kick, flipping through the air before landing smoothly.

She looked stunned.

I pointed at her.

"Hey! That was dangerous! You could've killed me with that kick!"

"I'm just a child, you know?! Did you just try to attack a child?! Aren't you a hero?!"

"S-Sorry... I didn't mean to—it was a reflex when you... touched me."

This girl is dangerous!

"Anyway, those moves just now—only pro heroes can dodge my kicks like that."

"I just got lucky."

"No way! My instincts say you're strong."

"It's just your imagination."

"Then let's have a match and see if I'm right!"

My cheek twitched.

Did she just challenge a child to a fight? What's wrong with her?

She looked fired up, taking a stance.

"Let's go! I want to test your strength!"

I get it now. This girl is an idiot.

Sure, she's pretty, but I swear all her nutrients went to her thighs.

"Hey! Stop staring at my legs! Let's start!"

I sighed. Still, she's clearly not going to give up.

I noticed my bike just behind her.

Grinning, I yelled—

"Haaaaa!"

I rushed at her.

She smiled, raising her leg for a front kick.

I dropped down, sliding beneath her.

From my perspective, her movements were slow.

"What?!"

She turned around—too late.

I hopped onto my bike and pedaled away.

"Goodbye!"

She started chasing me.

"Wait!"

"How persistent!"

"Come back! We're not finished yet!"

She was catching up.

I had no choice—I had to boost my speed with my ability.

If this keeps up, I'll end up on the evening news as "Little Boy Chased by High School Girl at Night."

No thanks!

Taking a deep breath—

"Booossst Fire! Full Powah!"

My speed surged.

Looking back—

"I won't lose!"

"What?!"

She was still keeping up?!

This is bad. I can't transform into Captain Falcon after that explosion, and my child body is too weak.

"Such misfortune!"

Back in Musutafu,

PantPantPant

We collapsed in a playground.

I sat on a bench while Mirko lay on the ground, exhausted.

"Ha ha ha! I don't want to move anymore. I'm so tired!"

"Idiot... why chase me that far?!"

"Because I trust in my legs!"

"What kind of reason is that?!"

I stood up and offered her a hand.

"Here... I'm Fujiwara Ichika. I live in an orphanage nearby."

She grinned and took my hand.

"Usagiyama Rumi. I made the hero name Mirko myself."

As I helped her up—

"Huh? Waaahh!"

She lost balance and fell on top of me.

Thud!

"Ow... huh?"

She was on top of me, staring closely.

"Rumi-nee?"

"I don't like the sound of that. Just call me Rumi. I'll call you Ichika."

"If you're okay with that... sure."

"Ichika, I'm curious about your skills. Let's spar again sometime!"

She still looked fired up.

"This girl..."

Suddenly—

"Who's there?!"

A flashlight beam blinded us.

"Huh?"

A silhouette walked toward us. I recognized her immediately.

Thud!Menacing aura

"I-chi-ka! What are you doing in the middle of the night with a high school girl?! I've been looking for you everywhere!"

I was drenched in sweat.

It was the orphanage caretaker—the woman who raised me.

"Wait! I can explain!"

Rumi smiled politely.

"Are you Ichika's mom? Hello, I'm Rumi. Ichika and I came from Osa—"

I clamped my hand over her mouth.

She was making things worse.

The caretaker's fury intensified.

"Ichika, you're in so much trouble! Prepare yourself!"

My face turned pale.

"Such misfortune!"

(To be continued.)

A/N: I'll fix my mistakes later.
