Vera Warner found Victor Morgan's gaze incredibly familiar—a look she felt she hadn't seen in a very long time. Ever since Sylvia Schuyler returned, the way he looked at her had changed.
But now, his eyes held only her.
Vera Warner, however, shied away slightly. Now that her identity was exposed, she didn't know how much longer she could stay in Aethelgard. She had to be careful and maintain her distance from Victor Morgan.
"How is Zola doing?"
Victor Morgan smiled, relieved. At least Vera was still thinking about the child. He took her hand and gently pressed it to his cheek.
"Vera, I've recovered my memory. I remember everything between us. What I want to tell you is..."
"You don't have to say any more. Right now, I'm not thinking about anything else. I just want to take care of Chloe. You know I've offended some dangerous people. From now on, endless trouble will be coming my way, so I'm not in the mood to talk about relationships."
