Vera wasn't angry about this. If anything, it proved that Victor Morgan still loved her deeply and was keeping a constant eye on her. But for Vera, this didn't solve the problems between them.
"Don't worry, Director. I'll speak with him myself. Sorry for the trouble. Goodbye."
Vera was not one to be controlled by others. The moment the director rejected her, she had known how it would turn out.
The director was helpless and could only plead, "In that case, Miss Warner, please put in a good word for me. Ask Mr. Morgan not to blame me."
"I won't let him blame you, but I hope you remember this: don't underestimate anyone. I hope this has been a lesson for you."
With that, Vera gave a polite nod of thanks and left without hesitation.
