"Officer, I'm telling the truth, Sakuraba really didn't kill anyone, he was really with me at the time."
Katagiri Kaede hurriedly said to Inspector Megure. She really was with Yuji Sakuraba at the time, which was why she dared to speak up. Otherwise, given her timid nature, she wouldn't have dared to stand up at all.
Inspector Megure shook his head at Katagiri Kaede and said, "I'm very sorry, any testimony given by someone who has a close relationship with the criminal cannot be taken into consideration."
"How could this be?!"
Katagiri Kaede was very anxious upon hearing this. If that was the case, then her words were useless.
"Evidence? Where's the evidence?"
Hattori Heiji exclaimed. "Without evidence, even if Mr. Sakuraba is indeed highly suspected, the court simply can't prosecute him, and he'll still be released."Inspector Megure looked at Aizen: "Brother Aizen, what are your thoughts?"
Aizen: "Mr. Sakuraba left from the third floor in a hurry. I think he definitely didn't have time to go far to dispose of the murder weapon. People often keep things that could threaten them close at hand; only then can they feel at ease. So I thought I'd search Mr. Sakuraba's room; maybe I'll find something."
"Mr. Sakuraba, I think you don't mind, do you?"
Inspector Megure looked at Yuji Sakuraba. Actually, even if Yuji Sakuraba disagreed, it wouldn't matter; the police would definitely force a search.
"I have no problem!"
Yuji Sakuraba immediately said. He hadn't killed anyone, so the murder weapon couldn't possibly be in his room. A search would be perfect; it would clear his name.
The group left the room where the crime scene was located. Inspector Megure left one of the officers behind to watch over the room while the rest of the group went to Yuji Sakuraba's room on the second floor.
They quickly arrived at Yuji Sakuraba's room, but no one went in. Three officers went inside to search the room.
About ten minutes later, one of the officers came out.
"Inspector, we didn't find any murder weapon, but we did find three locked boxes."
"Let's go in."
Inspector Megure nodded and led the way inside.
The room was a bit messy, which was unavoidable. The three boxes were on the bed: one was a suitcase, and the other two were wooden crates, one large and one small. All three were locked.
Seeing this, Inspector Megure asked, "Mr. Sakuraba, these three boxes are yours, right?"
Yuji Sakuraba nodded and said, "Yes, they are all mine."
Aizen said, "In that case, I think only you, Mr. Sakuraba, have the keys to these three boxes, right?"
"Yes, only I have the keys to these three locks."
Yuji Sakuraba nodded. These were his boxes, so naturally only he had the keys to the locks.
Inspector Megure said, "Mr. Sakuraba, please open the locks on these three boxes one by one."
"Okay!"
Yuji Sakuraba responded, walked to the bedside, and took out the keys to open the locks.
The three locks were opened one after another, and Yuji Sakuraba stood aside at Inspector Megure's signal.
Megure personally opened the three suitcases. The top of the suitcases contained clothes, which appeared unremarkable from the outside. The large wooden box contained toys, or at least toys on top of it. The small wooden box contained letters.
"Sorry!"
Megure said, then dumped the clothes from the suitcases onto the bed, picking them up one by one and setting them aside after confirming they were okay.
Then, he picked up a piece of clothing from the middle, and the bright red blood on it caught everyone's eye. The bloodstains on the clothing were so obvious.
"Takagi, immediately have the forensic team conduct a blood test."
Megure immediately ordered Takagi Wataru to take the clothes and leave for a blood test.
"How is this possible? This is impossible!"
Yuji Sakuraba knelt down in disbelief. How could there be bloodstained clothes in the suitcase? There shouldn't be any.
"What happened?"
Morizono Kikuhito was also surprised. He knew that piece of clothing all too well; it shouldn't be here. However, the thought that Yuji Sakuraba would become the criminal made him smile inwardly. He didn't care why it was like this; it was to his advantage.
Inside the large wooden crate, Inspector Megure found a blood-stained knife, clearly the murder weapon.
He said sternly to Yuji Sakuraba, "Mr. Sakuraba, it's no use trying to deny it now. The evidence has been found."
"No, please believe me! I really didn't kill anyone!"
Yuji Sakuraba cried out, "I was there the whole time the masters were eating. After the meal, I went to find the cat, and then I ran into Miss Kaede, and I stayed with her."
Katagiri Kaede hurriedly nodded, "I really was with Sakuraba..."
"Wait a minute!"
Yurie Morizono suddenly interrupted Katagiri Kaede, looking at Yuji Sakurabau and saying, "You said you were in the restaurant the whole time Dad and the others were eating, is that true?"
Morizono Mikio said, "Yurie, that's true, but it's irrelevant to the case. Why are you asking?"
"Nothing, I was just asking casually."
Yurie Morizono shook her head and stood aside, her face grim. If Yuji Sakurabau was in the restaurant at the time, then the man who raped her wasn't Yuji Sakurabau. One of the two Yuji Sakurabau must be a fake, and judging from the current situation, it's more likely that the one who raped her is a fake. In other words, she didn't even know who the man who raped her was. She lost her virginity inexplicably, without even a target for revenge. She was almost driven mad with anger.
Others might not know why Yurie Morizono suddenly asked that question, but Aizen, as the person involved, certainly knew.Anyway, Yuji Sakuraba was about to stay in prison, and he wouldn't take the blame. In any case, Yurie Morizono wouldn't know that the man was Aizen.
Yuji Sakuraba was unwilling to confess, and Inspector Megure was waiting for Takagi Wataru to return, so for a moment, no one said anything.
Conan and Hattori Heiji exchanged glances, nodded to each other, and walked outside together, both of them tacitly wanting to say something.
