"Yes."
Alice bit her lip and suddenly burst into tears.
Chester gently wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes, "Silly girl, why are you crying?"
Alice sniffed, suppressing her sobs, "If I knew you had changed your mind that night, I definitely wouldn't have left you..."
"No." Chester shook his head, "I'm grateful that you didn't see me wake up at the time."
Alice was puzzled, "Why?"
Chester gazed into Alice's eyes, which had been made clearer by tears, and hoarsely said, "Because if I woke up to see you beside me, I'd habitually think you'd never leave. This way, I'd never experience what loss feels like, and I'd never learn to cherish."
Alice sobbed and leaned into Chester's embrace.
Chester held her tightly, the pain in his voice came through, "Baby, forgive me for making you endure so much hardship before. In the future, I will never let you down again."
A month later.
Andie and several company executives stood in Alice's office, eyes red.
