Lex took in a deep breath once Murderer was done imprinting the ability, prepared himself, and then activated the ability. Out of any other realm, the Midnight realm should be the one he understood best because it was the one in which he lived, not to mention the one he was constantly developing.
In fact, he expected that his affinity for the Midnight realm would be excellent. This wasn't because of the system, but because the time used to speed up the development of the realm came out of his body! Oh, and also because of Lotus.
He did not know if his development of the realm itself would get him any brownie points with the Midnight realm because all of that was done through the system.
