Lilly Rose felt the oxygen she inhaled was stuck in her throat. The corner of her eyes stung and itched.
"There was a document. And I signed it."
She groaned and lowered her head. Matthew's soft tone didn't help with the tightening of her chest.
She felt patronized and she hated it.
"What was in the contract?"
"Let's sit down first," he said instead of answering.
"Why did you sign it?"
She didn't wait for him and sat down on the divan at the foot of her bed. Impatient was on her face and she could not explain the annoyance that was growing in her chest.
Her father has deceived her for half her life with her mother. His lies ruined her relationship with her mom and now she would find out that he had a secret with her husband as well.
Matthew must have sensed her annoyance because he offered her a smile before he sat next to her.
As soon as Matthew's butt closed to the divan she twisted her body to face him. She wanted to see his face.
