King Gerald and Uruak sat in a large room with a dining table in the middle were they sat, just two of them. Gerald ordered every other person to step out.
"So, may I know why you plan on doing away with the young girl?" Uruak asked with a mild smile on his face. His face always had a little smile on it, even when faced with danger or when he killed people, which made him appear more evil than he may really be.
"I have my own reasons that I would like not to discuss at the moment. I ask that you cooperate with me, please bare with it a little."
"You know, people say I'm an evil and cruel person, and the same people turn around to call you a hero. Tut, at least I do things openly. Very well, I will honour your request and cooperate."
…
"Bring the Lady accused of attempted assassination before the king!" A man standing about 4 metres away from the king's throne ordered the soldiers guarding the enormous doors that lead into the throne room.
Marie was paraded into the throne room, with 5 guards standing around her. The room had the king, Uruak, some council members, all the elders of the kingdom, alongside some other people present.
She was made to kneel before the king as they brought to the centre of the room. Something felt strange as she entered the throne room. Of course, the spell on her body that restricted her movements had been lifted by Uruak, but as she entered, she felt something else.
The man who instructed the guards to bring her in following the king's orders, began his questioning.
"Miss Marie, did you or did you not attempt to assassinate the Poison King Uruak?"
Marie opened her mouth to give her response, but to her surprise no words came out, not even a sound, and after the first try, she couldn't even open her mouth anymore. 'I knew something felt off, these bastards must have planned everything from the start. Damn it, my mouth won't even budge!'
"Why do you remain silent? Speak out!" The man doing the questioning wasn't aware of the ploy, and even though he deeply felt something was off, he couldn't help. Marie had helped him many times, but now that she might need him the most, he was useless, and to him, she was doing herself more harm by not talking, lowering his chances of intervention.
The questioner proceeded to ask a series of other questions, but the response was the same, silence. He gave up on asking, as there was no answer given to any of the questions he asked.
"My Lord." The man said as the turn to the king.
The King responded with a simple "Hm."
As the questioner was about to speak again, a soldier who clearly couldn't stand it anymore jumped out of line to speak. He seemed angry, and even as he tried to suppress and control his temper before the King, he couldn't help it slipping into his voice a little. "Sir! My Lord! If I may, I strongly opposed to the fact that Miss Marie is guilty of this senseless accusation! She has served this country so well from a young age. Please Lord, reconsider and look into this case more." He said as he placed one hand on his chest to show his respect and loyalty to the kingdom.
"Preposterous! You dare to speak out of turn and oppose the King!? You should be killed!" a council member said just as the King raised his hand and everyone condoled themselves, and the room began silent once more.
"I have decided. For the punishment, You shall be executed." The king said with not a single spec of remorse in his tone.
Marie's eyes widened a bit in shock for a moment, then returned to how they were, now, her face wearing a frown, filled with hate and anger.
"My Lord!" The soldier spoke again, "we haven't even used the oath of truth yet, since it forces one to speak the truth, wouldn't that suffice my Lord? And we all know that the Medicine King Uruak is a very treacherous individual, even in the stories. How are we sure he hasn't done something to Miss Marie?!" The soldier blurted out.
"Insolent fool! You dare oppose the King's decision? You should be killed! Guards drag this ma..." before the voice could even finish his words, Uruak waved his right hand from left to right in a delayed slicing motion. As his hand stopped and rested on the arm of his chair, the soldier who knelt on one knee collapsed on himself and died, shocking everyone except the King and Marie.
"I may not be the king of your kingdom, but that doesn't mean an ant such as yourself can talk as you wish to me. Hahh, I tried as much as possible not to kill anyone, but some people just have it coming." He did all this, all the while still keeping the smile on his face.
Many turned to face the King expecting him to say something, but he brushed it off saying it was the soldier's fault for making a false accusation, and that he would have died regardless, because of his earlier actions. The body was taken out of the throne room by two others, as the King dismissed the trial, and the maids got to work. Marie was scheduled for execution the following week.
The king and Uruak walked together towards the garden, while having a conversation.
"Why did you kill him, Uruak? Can't you follow a script for once in your life?"
"You saw his attitude, didn't you? That was clearly an insult, so I gave him his punishment, up front."
"You frustrate me to no end. If it wasn't for the fact that I needed you, I would have just left you alone on your journey, you being here is a headache."
"What's with all the complaining? The end point is that the girl dies, isn't that what is what is more important?"
"The plan was to pin the group of assassins on her, and frame her for being a high ranking member of the group, that way I could have dragged more people who were supposed to be killed as members, and just execute them all at once." The king stressed.
"Heh. Well, that isn't exactly my fault. You didn't tell me this part of the plan." Uruak said evasively while trying to look elsewhere.
"Now I have to create opportunities for the others to die. Stressful."
"Why are you complaining so much Gerald? Th.."
"I even finished the trial and sentenced her to death earlier because you started acting up. I was planning to add the soldier as a pawn in my plans, but you went and killed him." Gerald exclaimed.
Both men continued their walk till sunset came, then they went inside.
