Chapter 38 - Prologue: Summoned.

"Sigh... Sir Jackson, it's your second year in high school, and all you've done is pick fights with the third years. Isn't it about time for you to take your work more seriously?"

A bald man with a long bushy moustache said, sighing, as he stared at the young boy before him. The boy was seated around a small wooden table with a frown on his face.

"Tch, they're the ones who keep making fun of me; all I've done is give them what they wanted. Besides, why am I the only one brought here? Shouldn't they be here too?"

Jackson asks with a furrowed brow. Hearing that, the man sighed quietly before speaking.

"The reports said those boys only teased you; there were many witnesses who said you threw the first punch. I'm the one who's going to have to explain to that young man's parents about why their son's face looks like it was beaten by a bat."

The man lamented, holding his head as if he were enduring a headache. Seeing that Jackson snorted through his nose in displeasure.

"... Sigh, please make sure this never happens again. I don't want to have to tell your mother that their son assaulted another student, isn't that why you ended up transferring schools in the beginning?"

The man said, staring at Jackson with a serious face. After seeing the circumstances of the boy's family, he honestly didn't want to have to expel him; it would be better for him to graduate normally. However, it wasn't his place to interfere in the matters of his family, so all he could do was encourage him to stay on the right path.

"You can head back to class now, but please make sure nothing like this ever happens again."

The man said, sighing. Jackson nodded his head quietly, knowing the conditions of his family, he couldn't retort however he liked. In the end, he complied without acting unreasonably and went on his way.

***

Jackson is a boy who was raised in a normal family. His height was average, his short black hair was rough, and his clothes were always rugged. His parents worked their hardest for their family. When he was at the age of 13, his father died in a plane crash while he was on his way towards an interview overseas. Since then, his mother had to do everything to take care of both of them. His mother worked so hard that she would sometimes collapse due to the fatigue she had built up from overworking herself.

Since then, he had tried to help her out by getting various jobs, but his lack of skills made him unable to work. When he was 15 years old, he tried shoplifting and got caught due to a camera that spotted him when he tried to steal many foods and groceries from a supermarket. And he was turned over to the police officers. In the end, he was locked up for two years.

Once he finally got out, he went back to his original school, but the news of his shoplifting spread throughout the entire school like wildfire. No one looked at him the same way again; in their eyes, he was just a criminal. He lost all his friends and even got kicked off the football team, the only time when he could do something that reminded him of his father was all taken from him.

Even when he transferred to this school, hoping to get a fresh start, nothing has changed. They all looked at him with eyes filled with disdain. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fist angrily.

He walked through the hall of the school, and many of the students who were walking by stared at him as though they were looking at an evil villain.

"Tch, what you all got something to say?"

He turned to two small boys who were walking a short distance beside him.

"Umm... N-no, not at all."

The boy said, shaking his head vigorously in a panic. The other boy who was standing beside him ran away at the other end of the hallway. Seeing that the boy snorted with a huff before walking away. Jackson then went downstairs towards his class, when-

Feeling the sensation as though he was moving, he promptly stopped his feet and observed the school walls before him. The white walls were all moving as though they were changing shape. Jackson stood frozen with sweat coming from his forehead. He didn't understand what was happening in his surroundings. Just when he was about to run-

"Please, help us, o hero."

A soft, feminine voice echoed inside his head.

"What?"

He said, confused, but before he could say anything further. A wide magic circle appeared underneath his foot with geometric patterns in the middle. The circle glowed, releasing a blinding light, and in an instant, his figure had completely disappeared.
