Chapter 81 - The gods of the universe.

"Did you say god of space?"

I asked, completely dumbfounded.

"Yes, the god of space was an existence capable of completely manipulating space; everything within the universe was completely under his control."

The void explained.

Hearing that, I placed my hand beneath my chin as I pondered to myself. If that's the case, then does it mean I need to find the 'God of space' in order to learn space manipulation, but according to Alya, there were once humans capable of interfering with space to a certain extent?

Though humans did not have high compatibility with space magic.

Fire, water, wind, earth. Those were the type of magic best suited for humans. Although there were special magics available, like dark magic, a type of evil magic that was first used by the demon race, and then there was light magic, also known as 'Holy magic', used to counter dark magic.

Space is a form of magic that hasn't been used by humans since the era of the gods, according to Alya.

"Um, do you know where I could find the god of space?"

I inquired curiously.

"That might be impossible. The god of space, along with the other gods, disappeared since the disaster that occurred a long time ago."

"Hmm... disaster, are you referring to the war that happened between the humans and demons three centuries ago by any chance?"

I asked as I was a bit curious about the topic. However, the answer I got greatly surprised me.

"No, I'm not talking about that war, I'm talking about the disaster that occurred long before that world even existed."

He responded in a somewhat bitter tone.

I guess whatever happened back then left a bitter taste in his mouth. But what exactly happened back then?

What does it have to do with the god of space? I was only informed about the god of creation. I didn't even know other gods existed before.

"Can you tell me what happened? I'm curious about that disaster that occurred at that time?"

There's no need to be timid. If I can get some more information, then I'm all ears, no need to be modest in this situation. I highly doubt I will ever get another chance to learn about the history of the universe.

"Very well. Approximately five millennia ago, somewhere in the vast space of the universe, a god was born... he is the one who would later be known as the 'God of Creation, being born from the concept of 'creation.' However, he wasn't the only god who was born that time; the god of destruction also came into existence, being born from the concept of 'destruction.' The two gods coexisted together and tried to find harmony with each other despite their opposite concepts."

He explained.

"Some time after that, other gods also came into existence. The god of space was born from the concept of space, the god of time was born from the concept of time, and the god of gravity was born from the concept of gravity. They each represented one of the universal laws and were revered as the strongest."

According to the void, each god had their own respective jobs and duties throughout the vast universe. The god of destruction would destroy and obliterate, while the god of creation would create new things like planets, the moon, and the sun, in their place.

The god of space maintains stability in the universe and expands the dimensional space.

Thus, making room for more creation, the god of gravity maintains the gravitational field while the god of time maintains time to operate smoothly.

Finally, the universe flourishes greatly by the gods' effort, and many millennia and centuries after they each decided to govern different parts of the galaxy and expand their territory.

The god of creation built different worlds and realms. One of them was Earth, the place where I originated. Then, the Spirit realm, all other realms were brought into existence.

"Though, while the other gods wanted peace, the god of destruction wanted destruction as his name entitled, over the many different eras, he continued to destroy and wreak havoc across the known universe. This caused many disagreements between the gods who wanted to stop him, as his destruction would inevitably affect their lives and damage their territory."

He further added.

"Eventually, they agreed to eliminate the god of destruction. And so, a long battle of gods occurred, which resulted in the end of many eras, and the creation of the universe which you live in right now."

He explained.

I see... I guess things must have taken a turn for the worse if there are no more gods around. Well, according to the void annihilation, magic originated from the god of destruction.

"I see... I think I understand the general gist of what happened now, couldn't they have found a way to settle things in a more civilised manner?"

"Not all conflicts can be resolved through peaceful means, young one. The gods decided to go to war precisely because they understood that they had no other option."

The voice said.

"The war between the god of creation and the god of destruction, as well as the other gods, ended in complete disaster; not only were they wiped out, but their battle caused considerable damage to the entire universe."

The voice continued.

"You are already aware of the phenomenon happening with the dimension, right? Ripples keep appearing in the dimensional space. Isn't that one of the reasons why you were summoned into that world?"

He said in a clear voice.

After many years, the universe finally regained its stability. Though only temporary, as powerful ripples would occasionally spread across the dimension.

It's only thanks to the elemental goddesses that the world hasn't fallen apart already.

The clash between the strongest existences of that time had caused a considerable amount of damage that still affects the dimension even now.

"Yes, so... that was also caused by the aftermath of their battle. Huh, I had no idea why Alya didn't tell me about this."

"Perhaps she didn't know that the spirit woman wasn't around at that time, after all, those elemental goddesses weren't around back then either. The god of creation used the last of his power to create them from their original form. Thus, causing his already weakened lifeforce to run out."

He explained.

"What happened to the gods after the battle? If the god of creation survives, does that mean the others did as well?"

"No, they all died during that battle. The god of creation survived, but his powers were greatly weakened."

A listless sigh sounded as he finished explaining.

"I see... the god of destruction must have been really tough if they had died, but sigh, doesn't that mean I can't find any other gods now since they are no longer around?"

I sighed in disappointment as my shoulders slumped down. I'm glad I know more about the history of the universe now, but it doesn't change anything. I'm nowhere close to learning how to manipulate space.

If the god of space were still around, then I'd try to find him; that seems impossible right now.

"What are you talking about? A god does still exist."

He suddenly said. I furrowed my brow as I noticed the amusement in his voice.

"Eh? Really, where?"

Hope finally filled my voice as I asked.

"Isn't he talking to me right now?"

He replied.

"What are you talking about? Don't joke around!"

I yelled in frustration. Was this guy messing with me? I wondered if I wasn't in the mood to be joking around.

"Hahaha.... but I'm not joking, were you unaware of the fact that you have a god core hidden inside you this entire time?"

He asked.

"God core? hmm... wait, are you talking about that gold core that's been hidden inside me this entire time?"

I asked, curiously.

Now that you mention it, I was always curious about it. I never had the chance to talk to Alya about that. Wait! Why do I have such a thing?

"Do you know the reason why I have one of these so-called god cores?"

"That's because you are the god of creation's reincarnation."

He said simply.

However, I stared incredulously at the void. Reincarnation, like being reborn? No way, Impossible!

I shook my head, refusing to believe such a thing. I was just a normal guy living a normal life back home.

If someone were to come back to me then, and say I was a god in my former life, I would definitely say that person was crazy, for some reason.

I can't say such things because, in fact, I am in another world, aren't I? I have no reason to disagree with his statement now that I am in this kind of situation.

(Wait! Alya said she's been watching me from the very beginning. Does that mean she also knew about this? So, appearing to me wasn't just a mere coincidence. If so, why didn't she tell me? How much did she hide from me until now?)

I clenched my fist as I took deep breaths to calm my nerves. I'll ask her once I return. I thought the endgame was going to be those demons from my dream, maybe I was wrong.

"Oh, I think you should also know that the god of destruction has also been reincarnated as well. I also believe the other gods have been reborn, too, though. I have no way of proving that, but I do advise you to keep a watchful eye."

"Great, does that mean I'll end up facing him eventually?"

Damn it! Why do I have to get caught up in this mess? This has nothing to do with me, from my own perspective.

If that guy has all his memories, then he is definitely going to hold a grudge.... a sense of panic filled my mind from that realisation.

"If you're that worried, then I have a suggestion."

"And that is...?"

"Become strong."

He answered, simply.

"Become strong, you say? That's easier said than done, don't you think?"

I heaved a sigh while clenching my fist. Of course, aside from finding a way to return home, becoming stronger is my secondary goal. But the current me is still too weak.

"Unfortunately, that won't be so easy. Even with all the effort I put into my training, becoming strong enough to face the reincarnation of the god of destruction seems like a childish dream."

"Perhaps you're right. I'm sure the reincarnation of the god of destruction is in a similar position as you, though. But I do agree with your reasoning that it won't be easy."

His words resounded in the endless space.

"In that case, I'll give you something as a parting gift. You have stayed here for quite a while now, so I can imagine you'll be sent back at any time."

"Ah, wait! I still have more questions!"

I shouted. At that moment, the surroundings began to change shape, and light slowly appeared and dispersed the darkness.

"Do you know anything about my dream? You seem to be aware of it. Was it really a dream or something else?"

"I don't know. Though I do believe that your dream isn't really some random dream, whether or not it is, is up to you to find out."

"Wait!"

"Unfortunately, your questions must go unanswered for now. I'll at least give you some of my own powers. It's been a while since I had someone to talk to, as for what that power is, you'll find out soon enough."

His voice grew fainter, and before my eyes slowly opened. What reflected in my field of view was the wide ceiling of my room. I slowly raised my upper body and wiped the corner of my eyes with my hand.

"I need to start preparations for the future."

I muttered to myself.

"I'll at least give you some of my own power."

Recalling his final words, my face contorted in confusion. There was no way for me to tell what kind of powers he was talking about.

"Well, I guess it's like he said, I'll find out soon enough."

I muttered listlessly while staring absentmindedly outside the glass window, the sky was painted an orange glow as the first ray of sunlight spilled down from the sky.
